The Bair at The Bair Drug & Hardware

We were visiting the Northwest in August 2025 and our group — 3 couples who have been friends for about 30 years —stopped here to get ice cream cones. The ice cream is divine, the building evokes memories of our childhood because we’re all in our late 60s to mid 70s and we had buildings of this era. Absolutely beautiful wood and quaint decor. The ladies who waited on us were delightful, and we loved the huckleberry ice cream. It was such a fun day together and we made more wonderful memories together. One of our group members (Mike) was gracious enough to pose so everyone could see what we were eating.

I think this is a very great restaurant with lots of history behind it. The gary breakfast was super delicious and the sausage was really delicious. 😋

I had a terrible experience with what turned out to be the owners husband. “Kyle” he was disrespectful to say the least. Not professional at all. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Used to love taking a special trip to Steilacoom to eat at this place. They were busy this morning, I’ll grant you that. But when a man sat at the counter 15 minutes after I arrived and ordered ahead of me, I was a little taken aback. I went in hungry, but was giving them time as a bunch of tables just turned.

Still, It would’ve been nice to be sitting there with a cup of coffee or something.

So I just let the gentleman at the front know that I needed someone to take my order after others who arrived later were being served before I had been attended to. I assume I had been overlooked. He said she’s taking people in order and I said well she’s actually not and she came and took my order and I still didn’t get anything to drink and sat there while the other man was 3/4 of his way through his meal.

Just left

No food, no beverage no acknowledgment

they have their priorities and I’m clearly not one of them

Haven't been here for many years, but it was impressive how nicely it's been kept up, and how popular of a spot it is for lunch. While it did take a while to receive our meals at peak lunch time, we very much enjoyed the atmosphere and the good service. The food was delicious and well-priced. Will return again soon!

Great breakfast which was prepared by their chief with delicious tasty food and good size portions all at a reasonable price. The staff also makes excellant lattes. I also love the atmosphere with antiques thru out the resturant and the nice attentive staff.

A wonderful place to eat, the owner (I assume) was so sweet and funny, very personable. The food was amazing, you could taste the love of what they do, presented in a no nonsense way. The mimosa flight wss delightful, ask her to surpise you. You are surrounded by the history of building which brings a relaxing nostalgic vibe. Fantastic! Thank you.
