Wanted a nice little Fathers Day brunch after our hike….everything was bad. Showed up 9 minutes before our reservation and I’m met with “you know, we really do request you to show up at your scheduled time” with a bunch of attitude. So we walk around for 9 minutes, to arrive at exact minute of the reservation to avoid another scolding. Then as they’re seating us they let us know the brunch menu advertised on the website isn’t being offered, all they have is continental breakfast (bacon, undercooks potatoes, and pancakes)….everything else they were out of. Just a disappointment all around. Everyone left hungry and annoyed.
Make a reservation when you check in!
We stayed the night at Skamania for our anniversary, away from our young kids and ready to take full advantage of a night to ourselves (first time in 3 years). We got ready for dinner, went down to check out the menu around 5:30 and there were 4 staff hanging out by the host station. They asked if we were dining with them and we said we’ll be back, just going to have a drink at the bar first. When we came back a short while later, they asked if we had a reservation and that it was going to be a 1.5 hr wait.
Never did they once ask us about a reservation while we were standing there, nor at check in a couple hours earlier. We ended up waiting around for 1.5hrs, which meant we weren’t able to go in the hot tub and relax like we wanted to and all we could thing about is how silly it was they didn’t ask us if we had or wanted to make a reservation. I would have probably just ate at the bar and skipped the dining room all together but we thought it would be special. Speaking of specials, they were out of that AND all of the dessert options by the time we were seated…so didn’t even get to really celebrate.
So I messaged the hotel and no response. I then filled out one of their surveys from an email I got and a few days later I got a message from a “no-reply” email from Amanda, the dining outlet manager, saying they “will try and do better next time”. I still have a bad taste in my mouth and it’s not from the food.
Our server Travis was awesome! So friendly and efficient! The food was very good and the view was nice. The seafood salad was really good as was the seafood gratin was quite tasty. And I highly recommend the house sourdough bread! Signage was lacking for getting to the restaurant but overall it was a very good experience!
Service was great but food wasn’t great. We ordered prime rib and it was tough. My husband didn’t eat his. The waitress was great didn’t charge for his meal but was very disappointed in the food.
We dined at the Cascade Room for prime rib night yesterday. The food was delicious, the drinks were great and the atmosphere was perfect with great views of the river. The highlight of our night though, was our waitress, Jolene. She was so sweet, attentive and had great reccomendations - we would come back just have her as our server again!!
Very impresed. This wild boar with polenta and beets is one of the most decadent meals I have had. Outstanding, rich and creamy flavor. I do recommend. I didn't like sitting behind the bussing station. I think that should go. But, a beautiful view out the window that we were also next to.
Lodge Seafood Salad, Lodge Burger, and Dungeness Crab Roll. The salmon in the salad was delectable, smoked perfectly! The Lodge Burger was a decent standard burger, and the fried egg definitely helped. The crab roll was one of the heftiest and best-tasting ones I've had in a long time, and the fries were well seasoned and all super crispy!! 10/10
The menu displayed on the internet doesn't match up to in restaurant. So there was very little offering for lunch. 3 of our meals were served on a toast or bread, they were all so hard, couldn't even cut them. Disappointed for cost over quality.

I stayed at Skamania Lodge several days over the weekend for a conference. I ate dinner in the Cascade Dining room for convenience sake, yet I still found the food and service to be top quality.
I haven't stayed or dined here before, and I had no expectations whatsoever. The dining room is spacious and has a nice, elegant, yet rustic feel to it. I dined at 530 each night and had no need for reservations. I was seated promptly by the windows on the east side with a great view of the mountains in the background.
The servers were knowledgeable and attentive, checking in frequently to make sure I was happy. I ordered roasted chicken first night, halibut the second and a pork chop the third. All meals were excellent, though my favorite turned out to be the chop. It was very flavorful, cooked exquisitely, and was very lean yet juicy and succulent. ?
I tried a different cocktail each night and found them all great in their own right. The Boulevardier, the Lodge Lounger, and the Old Fashioned were each well-balanced and alcohol forward pours. A flavorful accent to the meals.
I enjoyed my stay very much and would recommend the Cascade Dining room to weary travelers who do not want to search for a decent meal off property. Relax and fear not. The meal you want is right there around the corner. ?

We have been coming to SL on and off for years and always loved the Sunday Brunch spread. We actually live not too far from SL. We stayed the night last night and was looking forward to the brunch on Sunday. After making a reservation a week ahead of time we finally got seated and I went to the buffet area and was very surprised to find scrambled eggs, bacon, undercooked sausage links, potatoes, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. My food was luke warm at best. Not sure if that would pass a Health Dept. visit. All of the other chafing dishes were sitting empty and had a napkin sitting inside. I thought for a minute I was at Best Western. What happened to the great brunch you used to have? Our server told us there was a change in the kitchen and because of Covid? Covid? I'm so sad to see how this place has gone downhill. We are happy to pay good money for great food! But this food was not good and I am not exaggerating. We had lunch here the day before - same thing - not good. SL has a great location and pretty outside. But the restaurants and the decor and the whole downstairs area looks so tired and old. Perhaps it's due for a little deep cleaning and upgrading. I am sure staffing is one of the problems and mismanagement. Please - let's put some moola into the place and get it back to where it used to be. Such a shame to see a one-time beautiful lodge go downhill. Lastly, a fresh paint job on the whole exterior would do wonders. Thank you.

Hoping we were there on an off day - but it was awful. Food was burnt and over cooked (eggs benedict was basically two hard boiled eggs on burnt muffins) the crab was just warmed up but fried and crispy. Drinks were awful - was just so sad and bad when it used to be so good.
Our waiter Dustin was amazing so competent kind and made us feel so special. The food was very good.

Duck was raw and cold in the middle. Asparagus was overcooked and mushy. Insanely low quality especially for the price. The only reason they don't get 1 star is because the workers were awesome our waitress was very good.

Birthday dinner. Travis was exceptional in taking care of us. Not hard on the eyes. But very attentive in all. The food was great. Dessert was average fare nothing exciting there. But beyond that a solid meal with solid service with a handsome waiter.
I've eaten here four or five times. The food is always quite good. It's expensive however so you would expect the quality of food to be good for the price. The view is incredible. The ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant but could be improved for the price. The service has always been underwhelming. I know you have to hire locals for service but if you're charging top dollar, you really should do a better job with training and development. I keep coming back but don't ever feel like I'm getting a good value.
