I had high hopes for this one. I was going to place an online order which rang up at 12 bucks and change but on second thought I didn’t want to type in all my credit card info into an unfamiliar website so I called. When I called my order was 14 and change for the same sub sandwich. I just chalked it up to that they probably haven’t updated their online ordering system in a while and inflation. No huge deal.

When placing my order, I thought the guy on the phone got disconnected or hung up on me because all sound cut off but I think he just covered the receiver to tell the kitchen my order? A little strange but at least I realized it before I hung up. ?He also was a bit curt. They seemed young and might need a little training on phone etiquette. I mean we’re living in a texting generation now so that is understandable for young 20 somethings!

When I walked in to Abella the guy in the back stared at me intensely through the cut out window, but said nothing. A little awkward. The other guy in front then noticed me and warmly greeted me “Welcome to Abella!”. Abella has a very sweet ambiance. It’s what you envision of a classic pizza parlor. Very nostalgic!

I was pretty disappointed with the size of the sub and quality of the bread. I will say the cheese was high quality and the veggies were very fresh. I think I looked at too many pictures on google and got my hopes up. So I’m posting my own picture with a pen for scale. After tipping 4 bucks 18 dollars seems a bit pricy for this small sub, even though I did enjoy it! I’ll go back to getting my subs from Slice of Life. It’s just such a good deal for the price and massive sub you get.

I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza being that this was my first time ordering. The pizza was so freakin good! I wish that I had ordered a whole pie but I will definitely be back with the family and it will be our official pizzeria for now on. The guy was very nice and pleasant as well! You must come to this place for pizza!

TLDR: really nice American style pizza, lots of flavor and absolutely massive!

We placed an online order for pick up on the way to Tacoma when we were about 20 minutes away and it was ready to go by the time we got there.

Between the two of us, we ordered a large vegetarian pizza which turned out to be so good! The toppings are generous too and I really appreciate that the pizza slices are cut thin. The large is also quite big and lasted the two of us for a meal and half.

Place was empty in a Saturday night. I seriously thought they brought out some DiGiornio frozen pizza. I still ate it, and it was fine, but that's it. Staff were pleasant though.

We ordered pizza and lasagna. Pizza seems ok but the lasagna was lukewarm. Next morning got really bad food poisoning.

I called for delivery, the staff was supper friendly! Gave awesome recommendations and my order was delivered hot and fresh! Appreciate the extra effort of bringing me a plate, because they knew I was in a hotel! Awesome pizza and great service!!!

We had a pizza delivered to The Docks. It arrived at the gate to G and H in 17 minutes, which I consider very fast! (This is on a Tuesday so YMMV.). Excellent pizza! Can't rate the "atmosphere" because we ordered to the boat.

Abellas, you should figure out how to advertise to boaters.

Best gluten-free pizza ever. As someone with Celiac Disease, finding safe and delicious options can be a challenge. This place exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!

I ordered the plain fettuccine Alfredo yesterday and was shocked to find pieces of shrimp mixed in and contaminated my pasta. I am severely allergic to shellfish I only got a few bites in before I started to have a reaction. They caused my throat to swell and close. If you are allergic to anything I wouldn’t trust this restaurant to take the precaution to avoid these mistakes. I’m still having reactions even the next day as someone who used to frequently order their pizzas I am very sad to no longer order from this restaurant.

My husband and I recently tried this for the first time since we were nearby and I had read good things about the place. Glad we did! After trying our first pizza (the Meaty Alfredo), we immediately wanted more. So a couple of weeks later we ordered two other kinds (Abella Special and Garlic Chicken). All three pizzas we've tried have been excellent and this is definitely our new favorite pizza place in Tacoma.
