I have a feeling they won't be open again. :( I'm a burger connoisseur, and the new Build-A-Burger has quickly settled into the Tacoma Top-5. For an exceptionally good price, you get a gourmet burger crafted with care based on your specifications. The place itself is unassuming -- hidden in the confusing maze of shops south of the Tacoma Mall, it almost looks like a retrofitted Subway, complete with smooth S-shaped wooden booths. Even though this is fast food, the service was amazing. The guys behind the counter were smiling, humble, courteous, and ready to jump into action if we needed anything. After we ordered, I watched as they meticulously sculpted my dream burger. Like a potter at his wheel, the chef leaned around the burger to ensure that toppings were evenly distributed to maintain structural integrity. It was sheer artistry. Just look at the pictures on this review! Ok, enough deliberating. How did it taste? My beef patty was seasoned nicely, and they put exactly the right amount of guac and mushrooms to make it gush, but not overflow. I loaded this thing up and the bun held like a champ. My wife's mushroom & eggplant patty did not fare so well. It was delicious, but the bun got so soggy that it fell apart in her hands. If you get this (and you should, it's tasty), hold it upside-down. The fries were great -- perfect consistency, dipped well,, but they didn't quite "wow" me. I love the assortment of dipping sauces they practically begged us to try (pro-tip: The Forum downtown is the king of dipping sauces). We will absolutel be back. Build-A-Burger definitely earned its place in my Tacoma Top-5 Burgers. Oh! Hey, if Build-A-Burger is reading this, can you add Krispy Kreme glazed donuts as a bun option?? Try it; they're just down the street and I promise you it's spectacular!

This place is now closed. Saw a paper on the door that said it had been abandoned. They were starting legal proceedings. It's a shame , this place has great burgers . I hope things work out for them and they can reopen.

Solid burger place with reasonable prices. Came here with a group of friends and everyone was satisfied with their burgers. When my friend told me about a place that had angus beef burgers which you could customize, I expected a big price tag, but I was pleasantly surprised when I came here. It's not a fancy place to eat, but it's clean, well-priced, and tasty. The burgers are juicy, the buns are toasted, and the sauces and flavors were good. I like this place for the food, but the owners/workers were also really sweet and patient with our group as we ordered as first-timers.

Great burgers and excellent service! Had to go with the bulgogi burger which I added onion and spicy pork loaded fries and the suggested wasabi aioli for dipping. Absolutely delicious! When I came in, I ordered the bulgogi burger lettuce wrapped with jalapeí±os and extra cucumber kimchi. I love it. I was worried about eating it cause I knew lettuce wraps tend to be slippery and worried about the juice from the bulgogi. They wrapped the burger with the hamburger foil type wrapper, so it was manageable to eat. I loved how clean and fresh it tasted. I want to come back and try adding some different veggies to this burger. The fries were crisp just how I like them. I got to try my friend's onion rings and I enjoyed how they weren't overly greasy. The restaurant itself was very clean. The service was quick and kind.

First time coming here and I build my own burger. Got myself lettuce wrap with one patty, bulgogi, American cheese and add the spicy bulgogi sauce amazing flavor. The patty was tender and bulgogi was cooked for perfections.

Ok. I finally got over here to try it. ðŸ”ðŸ˜ðŸ‘ And I think it's just as good as I hoped for. I've read the good reviews so I was excited to try this new burger place. My wife and I already have our favorite burger on the other side of town, but we both decided to give this new place a chance. And we were both so happy we did. Not only was the burger excellent, I had the double bacon double cheese double burger, but the service was like family. So now we will be switching places. I highly recommend build a burger. High quality, fast friendly service and one of the best burgers I've had. And I couldn't even eat the whole thing. That made my dog happy too.

Today we checked out Build A Burger and I was very excited to try the bulgogi burger. We ordered a bulgogi burger with onion rings and a bacon cheeseburger with fries. The place boasts about the quality of meat they use and the fresh ingredients. The staff is very friendly and helpful with ordering. They offer a ton of toppings and several cheese options as well. The burgers were perfect albeit the bulgogi burger was more of a sandwich. The meat was tender and the bulgogi sauce was full of authentic flavor. It was further complimented by pickled cucumber that came on the burger. I added onion as well. The cheeseburger was delicious with a perfect bun and amazing thick cut bacon. They didn't ask how we wanted to burger cooked, which was a little disappointing, but it was cooked finr. The fries and rings were cooked perfectly and we were given the option of several complimentary dipping sauces. This place is great. I have zero complaints. The bulgogi burger was absolutely delicious and I can't wait to come back!
