Update: I wanted to update my original review after receiving a reply from the owner. In my original review under the section marked “service” I left 5/5 stars. I do think the owner missed that somehow. That was visible on the original review. Overall at the top of the review for the general review I left 2/5 stars for several recent visits. The staff at GCG has always been kind and welcoming! Upon further reflection 2 stars may have been a bit harsh. I stand by the things I said, however instead of posting a negative google review perhaps I could have chosen to reach out to the business in a different way. Growing up my folks owned a small business and I do think I could have chosen a different method of communication. Over the years I’ve really enjoyed Grit City Greens! Grit City Greens has done good in our community and I wish them only good things. I’m sorry for being harsh to a independent local business who works hard.
Original Review: I miss going here! I used to love this place. Over the last few months whenever I’ve come here it smells like burning rubber inside. The first time I assumed maybe they were having equipment troubles or something. I’ve walked in and walked out without ordering because of the smell. It killed my desire to eat there. I figured it was a fluke of the day, but I’ve gone back in several times, and it’s just like that there now. I hope they get it sorted out. I’m currently trying to find a different salad spot in Tacoma but I just miss going here. They also never turn their open sign off and it’s just on 24/7 now. That’s strange. Maybe the attention to detail just isn’t what it once was here?

I like the concept. I also like that it's diced tomatoes instead of cherry tomatos.
But I cannot justify spending $20 bux on a salad.
Also the Ceasar dressing didn't taste like Ceasar at all

I googled 'healthy food' and Grit City Greens was top of the list. The great reviews are true! Friendly, super helpful staff, great choices, and a very good Chipoltle caesar salad. What a gem! Thank you!

It's been a long time since I've went to the same restaurant 5x in one month... This place is my new fav in tacoma... Morgan helped me today, she was kind & made my salad just right.
Like I mentioned I've been here plenty of times but wanted to leave my feedback... Definitely the place to go for light, healthy & quick delicious freshness.
The owners (husband & wife) are kind, humble & serious about running their business which I respect...
Everytime I have been her I'm never unsatisfied.

Grit City Greens made feeding 60 people for my daughter’s 1st bday easy! I was originally surprised because my 6 orders came on 2 trays but found that it was helpful. It was the same amount of food and skewers just on 2 easy trays to pick up and not take up as much space on our buffet table. I used them for catering because I thoroughly enjoy their to go salads for a quick and healthy lunch. I will use them again in the future for all my hosting needs.

We have used Grit City Greens catering for our events/parties and for family birthdays. Their charcuterie boards are always a huge hit with guests and very fairly priced. I would absolutely recommend their catering services for high quality, well-portioned, and flavorful dishes.

Really good salad and healthy meal preps that you can order online up to noon the same day. We always get the make your own salad option and the portions are usually very generous. The staff is always friendly. It’s so nice to have such a fast and healthy option for lunch and dinner in our neighborhood.

I went to an event where the catered food was from here. The charcuterie letters were nothing like their pictures. One single layer and nothing draped over the edges. The crossings were stacked at least 3 high on a tray and became total mush as did the chicken salad and cucumbers. It was awful. The hostess paid over $700 and it was a total embarrassment. Don't order from here for your catered needs.
Passing through Tacoma, found THE BEST salad bowl place EVER. The corporate shops do not come even close to the quality of the ingredients here, not to mention the service you get...just outstanding! Literally a hidden gem, makes me want to move back to Tacoma just for this place!

Cost: 2.5/5. Got the Taco salad without scallions or cabbage. I added cucumbers, not sure if that was an up charge or not. The taco salad and a cucumber soda was $15.99. Very casual order, pay, and sit structure.
Food evaluation: 2/5. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed. The ratio of kale to romaine lettuce and other ingredients as a whole was very disproportionate. The kale and romaine needed to be much more finely chopped. I felt like a rabbit trying to eat it large chunks of kale. There was only a tiny bit of chicken and tortilla topping on my salad. The little chicken I did get was tasty, I just wish there were more of it. It was basically just a bowl of kale.
Customer . The chef seemed friendly and the other staff member was cordial but not overly welcoming.
Dining area and restrooms: 3.5/5. There is plenty of seating and 2 gender neutral bathrooms. I didn't use the restroom so I can't comment on cleanliness or changing station availability. There was a high chair. Pretty low key and family friendly.
Parking & Accessibility: 3.5/5. There is a free parking lot with ample parking. It was an accessible business, overall but there was no sidewalk lip by the entrance so if you are a single wheelchair user you may need to plan to enter and exit from the street curb.
Hours: 2.5/5. 11am-6pm. It would be nice to see this place open until 8pm for dinner. The hours make it more of a lunch spot. A

Great family shop. Food is fresh and a great deal. I love the taco salad. Also love that you can add more veggies. Get the cucumber drink. I always have extra. Picture is after I've been eating for awhile. Great for gluten free
