Such a fun place! The food is incredible. Super fun atmosphere.
We have been frequenting E9 for years. The burgers, fries, sandwiches and chicken wings have always been fantastic. The food is a bit heavy, but super tasty. On our recent visit Tacoma Fire Engine 9 (E9) was responding to a call across the street from their old home.
I guess the cook was having an off day today. I understand, it happens. I ordered the Katsu Fish Tacos. The description sounded good, so why not?
The fish had Panko breading - something I've never had on a fish taco. I've used Panko on fish and prepared right, it's very good! The cook forgot to season the breading. So the only remaining taste was fishy.
Under the fish was a cabbage blend that had no flavor to speak of. That wouldn't have been so noticeable except for the bland fish.
I'm not the type of person who, while sitting with a group of friends, tends to complain. I just never return to give them any more of my business. Sorry, E9. You've been good in the past but I'll never return.
Great spot for beer and also super family friendly. Highly recommended
Really good food decent prices Good atmosphere
This is a hard one to rate because I love the location, atmosphere, the fact that it’s all ages and open late.
I don’t like that most of their food is fried. It’s hard to find something truly healthy on their menu. Also the chilli is incredibly spiced.
They have their own beers which is great. I like their blonde beer. And the service is okay.
I’d recommend for some outdoor shaded seating as long as you’re okay with bar food.
I visited on January 1st , I have been going to this place since I went to university of puget sound . Always a great time until now.
The game was on , and the jukebox was loud. We had a party of 3 watching the rose bowl.
The first server was fantastic and told us the cool drinks and everything . Shift change and an older lady completely ignored us . We asked for food and drinks multiple times only to be rebuffed . I first thought they were understaffed but by an hour into wanting your food, I saw a managerial type just tend bar and acting like maintainece was more important then 3 customers wanting food and drink . We were at the bar and this should be the heart of the restaurant service.
Horrible service and horrible management by will . I won’t be going again .
I do have influence and will be spreading the word

Only vegan option is an (overpriced) impossible burger. Talk about boring/lazy.
Vegetarian options: Veggie options are limited and boring, vegan options even more so.

Busy place on a Saturday night. Had a quick bite and some drinks before a show. Service was pleasant and quick. My chicken sandwich was good but I wish the fries had been a little more.... Fried. But, all in all, I'd go there again to try more on their menu.

Rented out the second floor for my sisters 30th birthday party. Everything was absolutely perfect. I organized everything with Will, and he was very responsive, helpful, kind, and spent so much time to help make sure everything was perfect. We were served by Sonya who was very attentive and extremely helpful. We made such a good decision to celebrate at Engine House 9.

The food was good and it had a great atmosphere.
Our server was polite and friendly, however a couple of groups that sat well after us received their food before us, and I had to flag down the waiter to get a status on our food (it wasn't terribly busy.)
I would go again if I'm ever in the area.

This is such a cool building with a lot of history. Staff is great, and the only complaints I have are probably because of how busy it was when I went. I've been twice in the past six months, and my experience was okay. It wasn't bad, and it wasn't great. I love the building and space but parking can be a challenge. Staff is very kind and hardworking, though both times I've been, it has been packed, which makes it hard for them to be attentive. It can also get pretty loud between the crowd and the music, so it's not the best place if you're trying to have a conversation or get overstimulated. Food was pretty typical for a pub. I had fish n chips - fish was soggy but chips were delicious. I'd go again with friends, but it's not my favorite place.
