Was greeted by the charming pianist, and was seated quickly even without a reservation. Had a hard time choosing from the tea selection but ultimately enjoyed a warming pot of the orange cinnamon and one of the best scones I've ever had. Will definitely come back. Note - most folks were dressed up. I was not and felt perfectly welcome.

Parking: Didn't know the lot across the street is free with a pass from the Cafe.

Beautifully decorated tea room. The food tasted amazing and portions very generous. We had the champagne pkg and it was so delicious and the food just kept coming! Table settings are all vintage and just add to the ambiance and created such a warm and fun experience. Plus, they have live piano music playing! I highly recommend this tea room and I know for sure me and my family will return many times!

Kid-friendliness: We had our 2yr old granddaughter with us and they brought her a tiny teacup and her own little pot of tea. Also made her a kid friendly tower of her own food. They were just wonderfully accommodating!

This is such a cute place to enjoy a tea party! My table was a party of three and we were seated at the museum table right next to the piano. Brian, the volunteer pianist went above and beyond to make everyone's day with bubbles (literally) and took song requests. He even showed us an old record player that he puts on when he's on break. Our servers were both lovely and engaging, we were so thrilled to be guests here. Thank you so much!!

There's a lot to love about this tea room and a little that can make it better.

First, the good. Atmosphere is great. Tons of antique feel. Great decorations. Tea was wonderfully flavored. Food was excellent. Tomato bisque was a touch sweet for me, but splitting hairs there. Sandwiches were quite good. Open face cucumber was a new take for me.

Pastries were superb! Double chocolate cheesecake, lemon square, chocolate covered strawberry... all amazing. And the scone was everything!

Service was also excellent.

The one black eye on the experience? The check. Six of us dined in for the seasonal tea @ $30 a person. No itemized bill was provided. The server brought over a square payment device attached to a cell phone for a total of $234. I asked what our charges were for as they were much higher than the expected $180. The explanation? For a party of six or more, the add on an automatic gratuity.

I personally don't like automatic gratuities for a number of reasons and usually shake my head because they are typically 18-20% when I normally tip 20%+. Not this time. This automatic gratuity was an absolutely shocking 30%.... and then the machine asked me if I wanted to add a tip on top of that!

Your servers are high quality and the experience is good. I understand some people don't tip and an added gratuity helps the staff, but 30% is an unheard of amount to just slip in on a customer with no disclosure. I would much rather pay a high price to compensate employees than have a 30% take mandated on me with no recourse.

I've had a very pleasant experience here. The interior is vintage themed and there's a volunteer pianist who plays in the background. We got the dutchess tea party. It came with a pot of tea, a salad, a scone, 4 mini sandwiches, some small desserts, and fruit. One of the black teas I've chosen was very nice and light. The scone was so fluffy and warm. It was very delicious with the cream and jam. The waitresses were very nice and attentive. Service was slow but it was for reasons out of their control, which I understand. The wait staff worked hard! I'm definitely coming back to try out the soups and more tea!

I wanted so badly to like this place! The look was old-timey cute and the prices were pretty good. Their music was decent. The live piano was volunteer and no one was playing during our visit.
Unfortunately, it was a hot mess.
Parking: First off, parking was extremely difficult and limited. We had to park far away because the recommended lot was blocked by someone who parked horrendously.
Service & Atmosphere: I think there were only 2 ladies working, which resulted in slow service. They placed us at a very small table even though it wasn’t super busy and they had ample available seating. We were constantly shuffling things on the table to make space. To top it off, there was no AC and it was very warm inside. They had ceiling fans but they did not offer to turn them on at all! We were being served hot soup and hot tea and dripping sweat… It was cooler outdoors than inside!
We had a baby and a 3 year old with us and they didn’t ask if we needed a high chair or provide a child-friendly tea cup despite offering children’s tea on their menu. I spent lunch trying to tend to my warm baby and hardly got to eat. When I stepped outside to get some air, I was locked out because apparently they lock the doors after a certain hour. Some people passing by tried to call, because I’d left my phone inside. They didn’t answer. I wound up having to pound on the door for a few minutes before anyone heard me and opened the door. They were apologetic, but probably less apologetic than they should have been to a woman with a young baby who was locked out in the middle of her tea service.
I completely understand that some of these circumstances were due to our party’s needs, but the staff seemed completely oblivious. I’m disappointed and hope they correct the temperature & service issues moving forward, because their tea was good and the food was decent.
The best thing about our visit was the scone.

Parking: Very limited! Plan on walking some.

The food was great but the sencha tea was overstepped and the hibiscus was more of an infusion than a tea very strong and bitter. Would recommend for the atmosphere but not if you are a tea lover.

Charming and wonderful. WONDERFUL tea-style finger sandwiches, salads, desserts. You order your tea set and accompanying finger foods in advance of coming, at the time you make reservations, because a lot of care goes into it- the level of an art form. Service is fantastic and atmosphere is so cool. The entire place is decorated and built out of salvaged architectural details and the seating is all private. GREAT place to bring visiting family or have a date.

Best scones in Tacoma is a bit of a stretch, bit pricey for what's given, customer service is almost non existent & cars are always parked outside the establishment on the sidewalk, impeding the flow of traffic for pedestrians, even though a parking lot is across the street.

Well, I was super excited to try this place as it looked so cute in the pictures and got decent reviews. Unfortunately, this place was altogether disappointing. We entered and were greeted by the lecherous pianist who made creepy jokes about our teen daughters joining him on the piano bench. Once seated we were eventually greeted by a less than enthusiastic or knowledgeable server. We ordered the Duchess Tea at $174.00 dollars for four. Tea was served luke warm without cream. Our salad was served with a teaspoon of dressing in a plastic to go cup. The scones were served with a tablespoon of clotted cream, jam & yogurt for the four of us to share. The amount served was so unbelievably small, I honestly thought there must be a mistake. Our servers started to warm up and were fairly friendly and brought us cream, more hot water to warm the tea and additional dressing and another small dish of clotted cream etc. The tea tray with sandwiches etc. was brought out and after eating the lack luster sandwiches we noticed that the fruit was moldy, with a big furry chunk of white mold on the blackberries. In the meantime while walking to the restroom the pianist put his hands on my teen niece’s arm as we passed. He also walked up to our table, interrupting our conversation and this time putting his hands on my sister in law. We managed to have fun visiting and having a laugh at how horrible the experience was. The place is pretty dirty, with dingy stuffed animals and creepy dolls all around. The food was not good and no way worth the price. We also found out(per our server) that the pianist is just a volunteer who apparently helps set the tables etc. Wondering if he has a food handlers permit or if they ran a background check on this guy? Yikes!
