I’m a little torn because overall I loved my experience dining in for the first time here. It’s such a cute interior and food was delicious. So delicious that I told my husband once I was done hanging out with a friend I’d come back and get him something to go.
I call a few hours later and order the yakisoba with extra beef. I get there to pick it up and notice they’re charging me for a plate of beef on the side. I tell the young girl that I’m really sorry, but I think there’s been a mistake. I just wanted some extra beef with the dish. She said she knows, but they charge $12ish for it on top of the $22 dollar plate. She even justified it by mentioning the quality of meat they use. I accepted it, but wow was I turned off leaving this place. That’s absolutely insane.
I checked other businesses that serve the same dish and they charge $3-5 dollars at the most for extra. I’d even consider $7-8 because I get things have gone up. Overall like I said…place is good, but make sure you come financially prepared. I paid $35.23 for one plate of food to go.

Every single thing we've had here has been incredible. I love the teriyaki salmon don, the salmon teppanyaki, and the miso soup is the best I've ever had. The staff are also super nice. This has become our go-to dinner out!

The menu here is large and varied! So many options, including baked rolls. The shrimp tempura in the Lucky Cat roll was delicious - I recommend it. Also get the sushi dip, it comes with fried crispy wonton chips and jalapeno sauce! Everything was nice and fresh. Beautiful presentation. Portions are generous and prices are agreeable. Friendly service in a nice and clean environment. I definitely recommend!

Party of 5 for a birthday celebration visited this restaurant for the first time today. The food and beverage looked and tasted AMAZING! The cleanliness and atmosphere of this restaurant was top notch. The customer service was 10/10. I will definitely recommend Nari Sushi & Steak to my friends and family. I will also be returning. Thank you so much for making my birthday lunch special and for the great tasting blondie brownie (on the house too)!??

Restaurantji Recommends
We first tried Nari in December of 2023, and we were very suprised at how good the food was compared to anywhere else. Shortly after our second visit, they caught on to what we ordered, what we drank, and how many forks napkins etc. we requested. The little things mean so much. The yum yum sauce is amazing and we buy the bottles to take home. Strongly recommend any of the fish or steak! Rolls are always fresh and beautifully plated, and the service is so kind and prompt! Great Job!

Their menu is expansive. I’ve only had their sushi and I need to try their teppanyaki as I’ve been told. The quality of food and service from this family run establishment is tops. Wish we didn’t live 2 hours away but will stop in when we can.

Sushi was delicious for being a local & convenient location in Pierce county.
However, the Korean dumpling soup is not a Korean dumpling soup. It is a bland, flavorless soup with store bought also bland frozen gyoza in it instead of actual Korean dumplings.
Flavors can be & are subjective. Nevertheless, if more than one person in your party agrees that there is no flavor in the soup, action is expected to be taken towards a solution that pleases both parties.
Coming from a restaurateur family background myself, I understand the expenses and struggles family owned local businesses face. I also understand it's nearly impossible to please everyone...
It takes a unique level of professionalism & skill to artfully manage unsatisfied customers , find solutions, while securing a successful overall experience and guarenteeing their return. To include the advertising they will do to their friends & family.
None of that occurred during our experience. The waitress, called her older sister after we expressed we didn't like the unpleasant soup (as soon as we tasted it, we left it complete)
Instead of being asked how our experience could be improved and taking our opinion & criticism as a constructive business owner and seeing it as an opportunity for possible improvement or could have just ignored it later after we left, instead she immediately demonstrated defensiveness and an unprofessional attitude. She was trying to actively invalidate our experience to tell us we were wrong and proceeded to elaborate on how "good" her soup is as she would know because she is from Korean origin. It felt as if she was trying to convince us into liking the soup after we had decided and expressed our dislike in the kindest most respectful way possible. We were not done with the remainder of our meal that we did enjoy. She set the tension for the remainder of our experience and made it very unpleasant.
We wanted to finish eating the food we did enjoy and leave as soon as possible as it was an uncomfortable experience.
I was willing to pay for the soup even though it was unpleasant because I do understand it's still an expense and products being used by the restaurant owners. But, due to the nature of why we sent the soup back, we inquired about whether it was a restaurant requirement to pay it in full, have it removed from our bill or pay partially for it (to make both parties responsible). I expressed I respected whatever their decision would be as a small business owner.
Again, I was met with loudness, hostility, aggressiveness, defensiveness and anger. The same older sister tried debating me yet again as to why their soup is "so amazing". At this point, I just wanted an answer and to leave. She did all this to ultimately remove it from my bill. I paid and still left the waitress a solid tip because the waitress (little sister) wasn't to blame for the older sister's unacceptable and unprofessional behavior.
All this required a simple solution. Show up to the table, ask what was wrong, communicate as a manager my desire is to improve this experience and what would be an acceptable or desirable solution for you as the client. And make it happen. Also, at the table as the manager I would have said "don't worry about it, I'll have it removed from your bill" no questions asked. The restaurant business is a tough business if you can't accept criticism then you'll never improve your product and you decrease your clientele % and hurt your reputation.
Please do better.
