“It's a big bar with lots of seating. I went for karaoke, sat for over an hour, and never did get to sing because the rotation was so freakin long. Thankfully, most of the folks who did get to sing were better than your average karaoke folks. I go to sing, not to not sing but listen to everyone else. Maybe that was just a really busy night, I'll try again another time. Other than that, seemed like a great place. It's been around for forever.“

For those unsure of what to order, Trenton asked only one to two questions and nearly nailed exactly what the customer was seeking. “Been reading about this burger for months now, and I finally willed myself to go down there to check it out. I had the double tavern and the chili fries. I’ll start with the fries, crispy and hand cut. The chili and was great and the sour cream and scallions were a nice touch. Huge portions though so they’re great for sharing. Now the burger, I had moderate expectations based off reviews and pictures. I always leave establishments disappointed when I have higher expectations so I came in with an open mind. I decided to dine in because all food tastes better when it’s Hot and fresh, and it was just that. The meat was cooked perfectly, the cheese melted all the way through, and the sauce was nice and light. The onions gave it a nice kick as well. It was very good. Beware, although it is a double, it is kind of small, so you can definitely kill a couple of them before you start feeling full. It’s really good overall, and I’ll definitely put it in my top burgers in Seattle (probably right next to The Red Mill.) These burgers were also a nice change of pace to fast food burgers, more expensive and the fries are extra but really worth it if you want just a nice, juicy, messy burger. I’ll be back to try the rest of the menu items.“

“I attended a gathering there...that started in the parking lot because the owner was an hour and a half late opening. Nice of him to show up. No food served. None. A kitchen, menus with pizzas they don't serve anymore, but no service. Long lines while he smoked outside. Is this a joke?“

“I love this place. It has been the most welcoming place since I moved here. Look don't expect to get a full meal here but everything else is fantastic. The atmosphere, the people, the cheap drinks. “Been here a few times now and it's just a great vibe with 4 pool tables, 2 dart boards, and few pinball machines. You can get some limited type food items but they come from the next door bar. Pizza was pretty good but it's the size of a personal size pizza. We like this place though. Decent beer and some pool. Great place to chill and have a good time.“

“Got a bacon cheeseburger to go, with fries. It was absolutely delicious. Atmosphere is dive bar. Couple of pool tables in decent condition, multiple screens with various games going on, colorful locals who are obviously regulars. If that's your jam (wasn't looking for that tonight, myself), you'll love it. Looking for something else and you probably want to take out... Which was totally worth it.“

“We came all the way from East Alabama and wanted to find a fun place in the evening. We were not disappointed when we came across Shorty's. The prices and food were amazing and Pete kept us thoroughly entertained! “Best and safest bar on the hill. Stay away straights. The goth person with the cvnty makeup running the door is always amazing and we never have issues getting in. Some spaces should be gatekept from the finance bros and tradwives. If you are offended by queerness, stay away!
Edit: Never had any issues with creeps or spiked drinks. This is a common issue in bars across the country and within cap hill. Watch your drink everywhere.“
