The food was good but the service was abysmal. Our waitperson didn’t greet us for more than 20 minutes after being seated. We got our appetizer about 20 minutes after that, and our Chateau Briand (cooked rare) took over an hour after we finished the appetizer. Our server was nice and completely overstretched with several parties including a party of nine. The dining room manager wasn’t doing their job and apparently, the kitchen was overwhelmed. Try harder or simplify your menu. It’s not working. For a $400 dinner for two (house wine), El Goucho of Vancouver didn’t live up to the hype.

My daughter and I ordered the filet mignon, bone marrow, and wedge salad. The steak was amazing! Very tender, not chewy and perfectly cooked. Everyone that helped us was very kind and helpful. Our server was very attentive, along with the rest of the staff. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Service was awesome. The food was mediocre at best. There are a ton of better restaurants in the Portland Vancouver area.

They should call this place El Oucho, my tummy is full! Haha. We had so much fun, the server Gabriel was helpful with each course, we had 6! We wanted to try everything and we still have to come back because we failed. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Always excellent and professional service. Food is over the top incredible. I have never had a bad experience with El Gaucho in Vancouver or Portland. It’s the best experience you can have with friends or clients.

My husband and I stopped by around 9 PM on Friday for a cocktail before heading home.
We’ve been to this restaurant before — both here and in Portland — and always loved it.
This time, when I signaled we were ready, the waitress turned and said “What’s up?” — which felt unprofessional and disrespectful for a place like this.
Everyone else was kind, but that moment really changed how we felt about returning.

The filet is top notch! The mashed potatoes just ok and the veggie side is not my style. I don't personally like zucchini. What I am most frustrated about is they boxed my leftovers for me which would be fine but neglected to include the yummy slice of cheese bread that I was looking forward to upon my return home! Sorry forgot to take pictures.

I have been waiting to go to this restaurant for a long time. We celebrated my birthday and they did a great job with a card and custom menu! Their banana fosters old fashioned was delicious! Most everyone enjoyed their drinks.
When it came to food, the steaks were lacking flavor, and the seafood pasta had a weird flavor with the prawns. Nothing to really be too excited to return about. Table side steak tartar had really good flavor, more crostinis would be nice as those had great flavor as well as the bread baskets.
Service was very good, waters were topped off frequently, and help was right around the corner.

Very nice upscale dining experience. Yes, it’s expensive but it’s nice to treat yourself and others to a classy experience every once in a while if you’re able to. Service was fantastic, bread basket was never empty, table side Caesar salad was cool to see. Food was great and flavorful. Drinks were tasty. We will go back for certain special occasions.

The braised pork belly appetizer was delicious.
Hefty price tag for some average tasting bone in ribeye steaks. Same for the crab mac and cheese.
The roasted sweet corn with chipotle honey butter was unique.
And the Yukon gold mashed potatoes were pretty good too.
The service and atmosphere were excellent.
I ordered a bananas foster cocktail with the appetizer. It didn't taste good, but it costs like 20 bucks. So I drank it
For a one and done it was okay.

We had an incredible dining experience here! The food was amazing and so good! We ordered a 6oz filet and the steak el goucho. For the sides we have the baked potato (which was fluffed tableside!) And the asparagus. The service was awesome. Everything was fantastic! Plan to spend a lot of time there because its a multi-course dinner, which was paced perfectly. We will be back!
