This has to be a joke, or everyone is family and friends that go here. This is not restaurant quality tasting food, its OK at best. It's overpriced and small portions. I feel like its owned by a white family that visit Hawaii often and thought they got the recipe down. Absolutely NOT!
This is my husband’s favorite spot for Hawaiian food in Vancouver. It’s been awhile since we’ve stopped in and he wanted to come in for lunch after running errands over the weekend. We were greeted and seated right away. The waiter brought us menus and came back with waters for us while we looked over the menu. I usually always get either the Portuguese sausage and spam plate or the kahlua pig but decided on kalbi ribs and coconut shrimp this time. Ribs were good and flavorful. Coconut shrimp was okay. Their Jamaican jerk sauce is also a fave of ours. Portions and prices are decent for most of their plates. The restaurant was clean and staff was nice. It started getting busy as we were eating and a few people had to wait for tables. Definitely a hole in the wall place and 1 of the better Hawaiian restaurants around Vancouver.
I really like this place a lot. I ordered over the phone and there was a lot of static, probably on my end, speaker phone while driving. When I got there they only heard half my order but rushed to get me the other half. The food is always amazing and the service is great. Highly recommended!
Got some chicken with a wire in it from cleaning the grill. Felt a pain inside my cheek and pulled it out. So glad it was a catered event and I didn't pay for it! Their Mac salad is so dam bland. Good char and sauces are the only reason for 2 stars. Kiawe Island bistro has mostly ruined me for other Hawaiian foods.
We were eating and people came in at 730 and were told they could only get to go orders and asked the cook if they could cook something. To me that is rude. If your hours say open til 8 people can come in and eat until 8. I can't believe this
Is this how this business is ran ? I know I'm not the only unhappy one here.
I work up the street and grabbed lunch to go. Everything tasted good but the veggie's were a little bland, large portion, restaurant was clean, and the service was quick.
STAY AWAY FROM KATSU CHICKEN. IT IS FAR FROM KATSU. DO THESE PEOPLE KNOW WHAT IT IS BEFORE SELLING IT FOR $17? IT'S LIKE FRY CHICKEN WITHOUT OUT THE BATTER. ICHI RESTAURANT DOES IT THE WAY IT SUPPOSED TO BE. WHAT A SHAME
This a great place if you love Hawaiian food. Everything I've had so far is really good. The Mac Salad is a must eat. Their teryaki sauce is really good for dipping. The Hula Boy burger is a half pound hamburger with pineapple. I dip the burger in teryaki sauce, and it's good. Definitely 5/5 in my opinion.
I love Hula Boy! The best Hawaiian food in town by far. The staff are very friendly, the food comes out quickly and it is all delicious. The signature sauces are great and I lobe the marinated veggies. The mac salad? Awesome. Eat here!!

I had started to read some of the semi negative reviews and was getting a little nervous. I thought the food was delicious. I don't know about $30 delicious.lol it was damn good though. My only complaint would be they did not give me my macaroni salad which I was looking forward to very much. Aside from that everything was on point. The meat was juicy and very flavorful. I definitely am going to be coming back here. I got Uber eats so I don't really know how the atmosphere is. I did take away a few Stars for not having the macaroni salad.

I recently ordered the chicken katsu from Hula Boy Grill and was disappointed. The dish was mostly made up of burnt, greasy pieces that made it unenjoyable. On a positive note, the macaroni salad was tasty and balanced the meal well. I also tried the teriyaki chicken, which was flavorful and well-prepared. Overall, while the chicken katsu fell short, some other menu items were good. I also asked for corn on the side with my meal and did not receive that.

Hulu Boy consistently serves the most delicious Hawaiian style food. The chicken is perfectly charbroiled and moist. They have the most amazing house teriyaki sauce that is available to purchase in a large squeeze bottle. When we bring one home, it's guaranteed to be used generously and disappears quickly. The food is so good you want to devour it all at one sitting. However, the servings are generous. We always have to bring home ½ of it to enjoy later. You will not be disappointed. The ambiance is that of a Hawaiian shack with art & posters that share the rich heritage of the islands. The staff is friendly and quick to have you seated unless the restaurant is packed full of guests. It's worth the wait if they're busy. You can also call ahead for takeout, order online, or at the counter to enjoy at home. I highly recommend Hula Boy Charbroil.

This tastes so much better than it looks and for the price it's a great value. The best Teriyaki plate I ever had in Vancouver. The portion is huge.

What you see is what you get, and the quality is solid. Reminds me of the Hawaiian equivalent, quick, tasty, friendly and reasonable. Gets busy at lunch.
