Eh. Our second time since it’s five minutes from our house. Super cute, but overly priced and both times food was ok. Cocktails are good but very spendy. The menu wording is so small you can’t read with how dark it is, but cell phone light helps. We won’t be back.

This place is 5 minutes away from where I live, and it's my go to for a proper cocktail. Definitely a hidden gem on the East side of Vancouver. They have an extensive cocktail menu featuring New Orleans favorites (Vieux Carre, Sazarac, A La Louisiana) and several versions of Old Fashions and Manhattans which the staff create and often rotate. They offer daily specials and a fantastic Happy Hour that runs from 3-6 and 9-10.
The other reason I go there is the staff. I often sit at the bar, and receive outstanding service each time. They're friendly, easy to engage with, and often love to chat. Special shout out to Hannah, Chelsea, Eloy, and the chef, who allowed me to hang and have some drinks as they were preparing to close.

The scrambled eggs were good. The Canadian bacon and the potatoes were so so.
We sat in a booth, and it was hard to read the menu because it was too dark and the menu was in tiny print.
Once I used the flashlight on my cell phone to brighten the menu, it was easier to read.
I will try the place again on another day other than on Sunday (brunch menu) to see what they offer on other days.
I would suggest increasing the font size on their bunch menu.

Went specifically for the Espresso Martini and to see the place for the first time. Walked in and where ignored by host. The bartender said they where out of Espresso and wasnt friendly at all. We just got up and left. The pricing was ridiculously expensive for basic food. Get ready to pay $18 for a cheeseburger. Never going back, terrible first experience.

First impression was great! Well designed establishment with the perfect atmosphere. We tried the elk burger. It just didn't work. It was pretty flavorless. It seemed as though it had a lot going for it by its description but it just couldn't deliver on flavor. This won't stop us from trying again, someday. The service was just ok for a Thursday night. The staff weren't rude but they were not very smiley either. Maybe it was an off night. We will be back to try again.

Restaurantji Recommends
We, party of four, have had dinner here 4 times. I ordered shrimp and grits two times. First three visits the service was very good, food flavorful, perfectly cooked, plated nicely. The servers were engaging and informative describing the dishes with ingredients that we were interested in. They highly suggested the shrimp and grits so I ordered them. It was so yummy and rich. Besides shrimp and grits, we have ordered steaks, catfish, lobster rolls, and burgers. Very satisfying.
I ordered shrimp and grits last night. Shrimp was almost raw, grits soupy and lacked real flavor. Not even the right color. Very disappointed. Service was rushed and harried, it wasn't all that busy.
Last week I referred friends suggesting the shrimp and grits. The feedback was not good. It was also a Saturday night. Must be the cook. Until last night I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I'll never really know how the food is here because almost immediately we felt unwelcome and wanted to leave. The bartender was super weird to us at first coming up and asking "how many more" and when we told him it's just us he just walked away? Then the server came up who was nice enough, we ordered a couple beers and an appetizer. While we were waiting for the appetizer she took our menus and never asked if we wanted anything else (we honestly at this point weren't planning on ordering anything else otherwise we would have spoke up). She brought the appetizer and did ask if we needed anything else then and I said no. She never came back to check on us after that, was just sitting at another table across the restaurant eating her lunch. We just put our card on the end of the table so we could pay and get out and up comes the bartender from before who grabs it silently off the table and cashes us out. The whole experience was weird and uncomfortable. The bartender was borderline rude for seemingly no reason, although he was fine with the table behind us? I've worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade and it seems like these people either hate working here and just straight up don't care. Super unfortunate because we just moved to the neighborhood and were planning on coming here often! I never leave reviews and don't ever have crazy expectations but I've never felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable in a restaurant before.

Sat ourselves in a booth and were immediately asked "how many more?" before leaving us. This same server then went to the table that came in right behind us and was really nice to them and got appetizers and drinks going right away. When they came back to us they got our drink order and then took the menus.. guess we didn't want anything else?..
We felt unwanted by the staff so we paid and left within 20mins.

There are no magnolias here, so they are telling a little fib about that. But they do have "southern-style" cuisine, so I'll allow it. They also have the northwest smash burger thing and all that so, you know, you have choices and stuff.
I had a smash burger on happy hour prices. Very nice. Mrs KC had some chicken thing that she said had too much bread, but otherwise was okay.
And, good news! All the whiskeys. They have stupid high priced bourbons, and a really swell scotch list.
So over all, I really recommend this place and encourage you to visit. And I just saw the magnolias hiding behind the bar, so they aren't even lying!
