Very disappointed. Order a crepe and you will be pleased. Do not buy a pastry. My husband and I bought a fresh fruit mini tart, baklava, Creme Brule, rum balls, and rugelach. The rugelach was so stale that the filling had dried rock hard. Baklava was dry and tasted like it had sat refrigerated for quite a while. The minitart crust was not handmade. It was a commercially stamped blank. Very embarrassing to have served these items to guests.
Ordered a cake for my daughter-in-laws birthday - she wanted 3 layers - chocolate with chocolate frosting. We enjoyed it on Easter (the day before her birthday) and it was one of the BEST cakes I have ever had. She loved it (we all did). I’m sure there will be another cake ordered from this amazing bakery. ❤️
There's a woman here who treated me horribly, I wish I got her name but I have never been so heartbroken during a job search. All I asked was if my resume had been reviewed after I applied for a job here and she spoke to me like I was stupid and actually mocked me. After two bad interactions with her I knew this place was one to avoid.
Edit: in response to the owners comment I would like to clarify that on both occasions I asked to speak with the manager/owner times they refused to let me speak with her. The first time was because she was in meetings (that's completely understandable) and the second time I was straight up denied from speaking to her at all. The second time I called to talk with the owner the same woman from before ended up talking with me and she said "okay and why do you need to talk to her?" I explained that I wanted to know the status on my resume she responded with "oh well I don't know about any of that stuff." There was a pause because I was actually at a loss for words, obviously you wouldn't know, I was asking to talk to the person who would. And then she says "soooo what do you want?" I said I was just applying for the barista position and she goes "oh hmm that position has already been filled." And then hung up on me.
I had a birthday cake made for my mom, it was delicious and beautiful. The cake was super moist and well decorated, their prices are very reasonable for products. The owner helped take my order and she was very dedicated and knowledgeable about the process, she did everything she could to make sure it was what I wanted and within my budget. She should be very proud of the business she owns!

Brookies are fantastic and everything I've had has never disappointed. Throw out the new year's resolutions cause this place will have you coming back for seconds! The danishes are also amazing and I could eat my weight in them easily. The cakes are amazing as well, my wife surprised me with one for our anniversary and I could do nothing but eat the whole cake in one sitting because it was so good. Great place, great bakers, great owner!

Take your business elsewhere.
While Simply Sweets has hands down my favorite buttercream in all of the land, they’re dry and crumbly cupcakes left much to be desired. And their food products are only the beginning...
Yesterday, i was visiting a relative of mine who lives in the neighborhood & we popped in to Simply Sweets. I had the opportunity to chat with the owner a bit. I was so disappointed by her unprofessionalism. The content of our conversation was primarily made up of gossip, rumors and slander about past and current employees. She then changed the direction of conversation to complaining about CUSTOMERS— she threw her head back, laughing, saying that she used the alias ‘Lisa’ when dealing with ‘difficult customers’ so that her poor responses/ attitude wouldn’t reflect badly on the business, as the owner. She said all of this to me, a complete stranger. She mentioned, in passing, that her turnover was high. “Nearly 40 employees in a little over 2 years”. I’m seeing a common denominator here. I will not be returning.

The cake is extremely dry. They even asked us to bring this cake back across town for them to “look” at the cake to evaluate it (we spoke with Lisa) . They claim they have to make their cakes dryer due to them using fondant, HOWEVER, we didn’t have a cake that required fondant. We had
butter cream icing! The cake was almost like a cornbread texture. They refused to accommodate us. We were super excited to surprise our baby girl with this cake for her 6th birthday. Unfortunately she didn’t like the cake nor did we. The cake will be thrown away and we will figure out the next steps to get our funds back into our account. The presentation is super nice, but their cakes are DRY! If you like moist cake, do NOT use this bakery. If you prefer the dryer texture this place will do you justice. Ice cream can’t even save this cake. In addition, after my daughter attempted a slice, she vomit it back up. Yes I am upset because the cake was over $130 bucks for a 6inch 3 layer that we can’t do anything with other than take pictures of it. When reading the reviews make sure to read the negative reviews as well! They aren’t lying!! I wish I would’ve believed the reviews.

Wheelchair accessibility: A couple of steps up, so not wheel chair accessible, but the hand rails were very welcome!

I’ve used this bakery for the last two of my son’s birthday cakes and I will return every year without question (even though I have to drive across the river ?). The designer(s) is/are incredible and the entire staff is lovely to work with, both over the phone and in person. The cakes are outstanding both visually and in flavor.
I supplied the toys for both cakes, but the only direction they really got was the theme and the special request for a volcano. They even suggested a sparkler candle to put in it so it would kind of look like it was erupting.
Last year, ALL my son talked about was a dinosaur cake. For whatever reason, he was so damn excited about a dinosaur cake. So, I really wanted to make sure he had the coolest damn cake I could have made for him in the greater Portland area. This is the place for that cake. I’ve always ended up having to go twice because I’ve had to drop off the toys, but I never mind because they have so many delicious treats to try and coffee/tea to wash it down. (Speaking of treats, I cannot possibly express to you accurately with words how divine the peanut butter cookies and the snickerdoodle cookies are. The only way to understand is to try them. Perfection. 12/10. No notes.)
Lastly, I’m not sure if it’s a weird coincidence, very likely user error, or a system issue, but I had an issue with them receiving my online custom cake inquiry both last year and this year. I do recommend following up with a phone call regardless of how far out your event is.
Much gratitude to everyone at Simply Sweets!

This is just a sad review for me . I found this lovely bakery close to home . It was so adorable inside and I am a cake lover. They had toys for the kids the counter staff was so pleasant and I even wanted to make another order while the cake I got was decorated but this is where the review changes . The cake was so disappointing, it was dry and flavorless and you could tell the cake part had sat in the freezer/ fridge for a while by taste . My kids don't even want to eat more of it nor do I. I had such high expectations and could have gotten a better cake for half the price at fred Meyers . So disappointed ?. I will not be getting the other order here .
