We have waited for over 25 minutes to get someone to even ask for our order. At this point, it's passive-aggressive, and there's no way it's an accident. We have come here for a long time. There is a semi young mid aged waiter who walked past us over 15 times. Took the order of 3 other people, 2 of which just had shown up. But not our order. She has acted in this way before, but not this bad. I am so sad and disappointed that this restaurant allows this behavior. A different waiter had to come ask us near the 30-minute mark. Well, you guys missed out on $200 and I will mever tip if i ever decide to come back unless it's beyond amazing service. We wasted now an hour of our night.

Updated - Original score 4 stars. Since the covid shutdowns, prices have gone up while quality has gone down. Spice levels are now low - and last time we went we got big wad of plastic wrap in our soup. - Original Post:Good food. Nice spice levels. Friendly service. This may be our new go-to for Szechuan in the area!

I ordered delivery from here so I can't speak to the atmosphere or service, but the food just tasted bad. I got the Mongolian Beef and it was both bland and weirdly bitter. It was missing a lot of depth of flavor (I even tried adding soy sauce to it to try to remedy it fruitlessly), but on top of that, it felt like they burned the seasonings that created this bitter taste I've only had before when I burned garlic while cooking at home myself. Very unpleasant to eat and very expensive for what it is.

Worst service EVER!! Promptly seated then served ice water and tea. We ordered our meal and waited over half an hour. People who came in after we did were served their dinner. Never did our waitress come back and say our meal would be delayed! Gave up and just left. We will never return.

My order was $64. I picked up my order, drove home and thinking this will be delicious from the pictures I see online. However, it was awful. The order was sweet and sour chicken which was hard to chew and hardly any sauce in it. The salt and pepper shrimp had no taste to it, it was teeny tiny, breaded shrimp with more bread on it and you could hardly see the shrimp or taste. This food was terrible. My family was very disappointed. We were hungry and lost our appetite to the taste of the food.

The best Chinese food in Vancouver! The service is good and very fast. Don’t skip out on the eggplant and green beans as well as the wontons in chili oil (very spicy).

I recently dined here, however, I encountered an unusual situation where I was compelled to leave a tip. Typically, I do not leave tips at this establishment, and it has never been an issue. On this occasion, a tall Asian gentleman with glasses and shoulder-length hair informed me that tipping was mandatory. When I inquired if this was a requirement, he confirmed and stated that a minimum tip of $10 was necessary. After complying, I returned to ask when tipping had become obligatory, given that I am a regular customer and had never been informed of this policy. He responded that it was because they rely on tips for their livelihood. I just nodded and didn’t say much afterward cause I did not want to cause a scene over this. While I understand the importance of tipping, being forced to do so made me uncomfortable. This experience has unfortunately impacted my desire to continue dining at one of my favorite spots.

I have been bemoaning the sad state of Chinese Food in Vancouver for years. Being a well traveled snob I have eaten good Chinese food, I have walked into the hills of Hong Kong and feasted on five course meals that left my head spinning and my stomach full. I’ve eaten food at street markets that was not only amazing, but welcoming and down to earth.

So I had more or less given up on Vancouver where most of the citizens wouldn’t know good Chinese if it came up and smacked them across the face with a handful of bbq pork lo mein. So many of the Chinese places substitute massive portions for quality or authenticity, appealing to a certain crowd.

So I come to the food at Szechuan Brothers. Is it absolutely authentic? Not really, but it’s the best I’ve had in Vancouver. The Mongolian Beef was excellent, with savory smoky layers of flavor that was a pleasant surprise. The beef was tender, the green onions crunchy.

The hot and sour soup was above standard and I got two portions of rice which was the perfect amount to ride with main course all the way to the end of the story. I hate it when you run out of rice before the beef and the sauce are finished.

And all of this on a lunch menu! How many places will satisfy your soul for less than $20 with tip?

It’s nice to have a decent place to go to, a place to recommend to friends in high places. A place that reminds me of the adventures of my youth, that transports me to places that still reside in my dreams. Szechuan Brothers is a great solid choice for Chinese food and I will be flying back.

This place blows away any other Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. The Szechuan wonton with chili is probably the best Chinese dish I've ever had.

We feel very lucky to have an authentic Chinese food restaurant down the street from where we live. We really appreciate their goal to keep their dishes more authentic, instead of trying to cater to Western palates as a few other Asian style restaurants in the area commonly do. We had a few vegetable dishes, dan-dan noodles, and mapo tofu dish. Everything was excellent but we do wish they added slightly more numbing Sichuan pepper corns to the mapo tofu dish. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Every time we saw the servers delivering different dishes to other tables we were keeping notes on what to try on our next trip. This place gets very busy so plan accordingly!
