Peaceful location. Relaxing and pleasant, without being boring. Well kept beautiful grounds. Brunch was very good. Horse riding was memorable. We will definitely be back with friends and family.
We just did the horse ride July 27th and it was fantastic. We took 5 kids between ages 10 and 15 and the staff was really great with them. Highly recommend it. Can't remember all the names who accompanied us but you were awesome. Thank you!
It's always fun to dine at Sun Mountain Lodge. I would have given five stars except my pasta was overly salty. It was good but I would have loved it with less salt. My watermelon, feta, and mint salad was outstanding. Our server Danielle was terrific.
Over the years we have dined at Sun Mountain Lodge The Dining Room and not been disappointed. But our recent experience was different. The wait staff is awesome. Helpful - we had our granddaughter with us and they were quick to provide her with crayons and an activity book to entertain her.
Food was good and service was absolutely exceptional. Enjoyed our evening like we have always have here.
The view is terrific, and our server was attentive. Too bad the food did not live up to those standards. We both ordered seared halibut. It had the texture of a hockey puck. It was difficult to cut it with a knife. We did not return the meal because both servings were the same. What would have been the point?
Great view. Food was very good though the menu is small. They seem understaffed but the servers they do have work hard. The kitchen is perhaps faster than the servers. Overall a lovely dinner.
Everything was great until the bill arrived. I have a dairy sensitivity, which I declared. Without any notification I was charged extra $3 to cook my meal. Since I wasn't offered alternatives how can it cost extra to leave off the butter! Totally spoiled a potentially great experience!
Everything was great. However, the beet salad was not worth the money. Nothing special. Also the ribeye was supposed to be cooked medium rare but actually was medium well. It was seasoned properly and tasted good but just a bit dry because it was overcooked.
There is not appear to be a capable chef present. This may not be surprising, considering the loss of a lot of the employees after the recent turnover in ownership. It is unfortunate however.

RJ was such a great sever and wealth of knowledge! He was friendly and attentive and the special he recommended was amazing!
First, the steaks and asparagus were perfect. The mashed potatoes were gummy and dense. My husband is a simple guy and even he did not like the potatoes. The deserts were to die for. What was lacking was the service. It was extremely slow. They basically had one waitress for the entire restaurant. She ran her legs off and do I believe the slow service was her fault, Ido not. I talked to the manager and told him the steaks were great as was the asparagus. Although we had very slow service, we did not believe the slow service was the waitresses fault. Drinks took forever, food was slow, all of it. The manager kindly took our entire meal off of our bill, including dessert. All we had to pay was our drinks. Did not expect that at all. I sure hope they are ready for Memorial Day next weekend.
First, they have a limited number of items on their menu. We ordered our meals, then 5 minutes later were told they didn't have the ravioli we ordered. We both received the "fresh fish filet" which was Rock fish. The portion was tiny, and was served with a white sauce that was cold and really didn't go with the meal. They serve it with large cornbread hushpuppies, which we thought was a strange choice. Unfortunately one of the two hushpuppies on my plate was not fully cooked inside and uneatable. The plate didn't feel cohesive and we both left still hungry . The fish was delicious but should have been doubled in portion size. The asparagus was the best part of the plate. The rest room nearest the restaurant was out of order for the ladies so they directed her to one two floors down by the gym. It's a beautiful facility but we left very disappointed.
I had made a reservation to dine in the dining room at Sun Mountain Lodge. We were seated in the bar however. it was my husband's 70th birthday and I wanted to be special, and it turned out not to be special at all overworked, bartender, serving people, and not caring whether you had a good experience or not very disappointing.
The food was good, but the entrees were small. However, the bowl of soup my wife and I each had with our entree was surprisingly generous.
