My impressions are mixed. Good servers, outstanding view but mediocre food. The burger is $23 and not worth it. For that price I don't expect to pick pieces of gristle from my teeth. Fries with the burger were served cold. On the other hand, the Takamine whiskey was very good, although there is no skill required to pour that. There are better choices in Winthrop, notably the Copper Glance.
The fine dining next door wasn't that impressive but the restaurant over the bar side is pretty good. I enjoyed my dinner. Cocktail is

Even though we were staying at Twisp to enjoy the valley view, we had such pleasant memories of Sun Mountain Lodge that we decided to stop for a late lunch. We waited forever in the bar and almost walked out before we were serviced. We ordered Curry Chicken Soup, and Winter Panzanella which was explained to us as salad with croutons. The soup was very good and the Winter salads looked great. I really liked how raw the beets were – instead of soft roasted, it was thinly sliced and cured. Whenever we go away, I always try to eat a lot of vegetables, so, naturally, I wished that there were more leaves. Half of the bowl was huge chunks of bread which was very dried up and not crispy – very hard to eat. Neither of us could finish our rock-hard bread crumbs. We were planning to come up again for breakfast the next day, but due to the slow service, we changed our mind because it would no doubt have taken all morning.

Great place to have a delicious lunch at Sun Mountain Lodge. The charcuterie board was amazing and so was the mac and cheese. Especially after being tired from hiking, the food was filling and we enjoyed every bite!!

Despite nasty smoke in the Methow Valley, we ended up there and to make the best of the day we went for dinner at Sun Mountain. Shortly after our drinks arrived a black bear wandered past on the hill below. This was a good start to a fabulous dinner. We decided to go with all small plates, and plenty of them. The cucumber salad with a kefir dressing was the highlight of the meal with cucumbers and pickled beets in a variety of types and preparation that exploded with flavor. Another veggie dish, the smoked carrots with goat cheese gave the cucumber salad a run for its money in excellence. Next was a fine crab crake. Always a gamble when you order these at a restaurant. We won the gamble this time. Caesar salad was also a winner. The only dish that was on the weak side was the peach gazpacho, that was OK, but the peach was not detectable. Dessert? There was a sweet corn ice cream that was delightful. We will remember this meal and hopefully forget our otherwise smoke-wasted trip to the Methow. See y'all again when the valley is full of snow.
We were fortunate to dine twice at the Dining Room, once for dinner and the second time for their Thanksgiving buffet - wonderful experiences both. Our servers - Franky and Ashley were warm, personable, enjoyable, attentive and professional. Enjoyed them both. For our dinner we tried the mushroom strudel appetizer - what an amazing treat of mushrooms in a nice sauce wrapped in a flaky phyllo-like pastry. Highly recommend. The chicken curry soup (I believe a house specialty) was superb. Generous chunks of hand cut chicken in a broth with a nice level of curry spice; vegetables also mixed in. The sun mountain salad was fresh, crisp, nicely presented and not too large. The steelhead was excellently prepared and presented. The caesar salad was also fresh and crisp as well as (and this is important to me) NOT smothered in dressing. The raspberry cheesecake was good but definitely light on the raspberries. On to the Thanksgiving buffet - what a glorious feast. So many delights to partake. The fresh made dinner rolls were light and flavorful. The cranberry sauce had some magical secret ingredients that made it delightful. The bread stuffing was amazingly moist and tasty with a wonderful mix of ingredients Somehow, the chef managed to pull off nearly perfect preparation of brussels sprouts - quite a feat at a buffet. The mashed potatoes were rich and creamy. The salmon was not up to par with the rest of the spread. The Cajun mustard sauce for the ham was a great added touch You could also grab chunks of either white or dark turkey meat. The pumpkin cheesecake pie dessert shined above the two chocolate alternative. For both meals, the wine list list in the Dining Room is very extensive with huge number of Washington wines to choose from (along with wines from around the world). Whether you are staying at the lodge or not you should check out the dining room.
One star is for the server that kept apologizing for the kitchen and bar staff. We waited 45 minutes for a bottle of wine that they couldn’t find. One hour until our appetizer arrived. 90 minutes for our entrees that were cold, missing dressing, and underwhelming. We complained and got our entrees comped. Still it was a bad experience. If you are that understaffed do not open the dining room. This was not fine dining by any means. Also, they were repaving the parking lot. We had to park very far away and in the dark. Get some lights out there!
The best part of this restaurant are the views although even with a reservation we were not given a table by the window although there were empty ones. The hotel and surroundings are amazing and worth the visit. Food wise, we felt the meal was average and quite expensive. My wife had the soup which seemed thinned out and not as creamy as the waiter told us it would be. Her pasta vegetables were very undercooked so not a great dining experience. I had the Steelhead and it was good albeit very small. The wait staff we had was very young and inexperienced and they were over familiar in any conversation, for example, having the expression "you guys" repeated often.
We stopped here for lunch. The setting is beautiful. Had to wait 45 mins to be seated. I ordered a salad and my husband a club sandwich with their lodge fries. It turns out they are the same McDonald frozen fries! No apologies whatsoever, just a “yes, sorry that’s what we have at the moment”. I guess their cook does not want to peel potatoes. Salad was good but on the very small side. Overall disappointed with the food.

We were staying at Wolf Lodge which meant we brought our own food. What a find to discover Sun Mountain Lodge! We had dinner here one night, breakfast another morning and cocktails another afternoon. All excellent service and gorgeous views. We will stay here next visit!
We've eaten at the Sun Mountain Lodge dining room for both dinner and breakfast on several occasions as well as on the deck in the more casual bar area. Generally the food is very good. The menu is fairly limited and the portions, especially for breakfast, are small. There is an excellent wine cellar. I'd say it is worth eating here for the experience and views but expect to pay a lot for what you get. Ask for a window table and they will accommodate you if they can. Currently, like everywhere else, they are understaffed so bring patience and empathy along...
Met with our family for lunch. Simple menu, but food was good. Beautiful view and good service. Couldn't ask for more
Best oatmeal I've had in years with great latte's Day 2 they had wonderful yogurt, fruit, and homemade almond cake.
This is part of Sun Mountain Lodge, with a great view to the west of the cascade mountains. Currently the menu is limited due to the pandemic. Reservations are required. The staff is first rate and the items that we tried were all very tasty. I would give five stars if the regular menu had been available, but I am sure that we will be back again.
