A hotel restaurant. Bernie, our server, said he “started the hotel about 13 years ago.” He’s a good conversationalist and when asked, he recommended the spicy Portuguese sausage. I decided on something else. The restaurant is not “permanently closed” but it might be closed occasionally for dinner, as was the case on Super Bowl Sunday. It seems mostly a hotel guests visit here (1 other couple on Monday AM). Current menus are included with this review. Full-service Breakfast is not free at this hotel however my party of 2 received one $15 hotel voucher prize. I had the country fried steak breakfast which was fine. Spouse had the veggie skillet which includes 2 eggs and cheese, which was good. Not 5 stars because the water tastes bad, with and without ice; apparently it’s not filtered. Consider bottled water maybe, or order a drink.

I was so looking forward to some room service, and the menu looked legit! What a huge disappointment! See the pictures. For an appetizer, I had the hummus. It’s priced at $16.50 and inedible. The pita was so dry, I was able to use it as a spoon for the whole meal in lieu of the tableware that wasn’t delivered. The entree was a “Dragon Bowl.” Sounded exciting, but the pic tells the story. Mixed veggies atop some rice with soy sauce, all slid off to one end. Nothing like it’s described on the menu other than the $17.00 price tag. Last was the apple crisp. Cold, lifeless and boring, $7.00. Now add a $2.50 delivery fee and mandatory 18% gratuity and you have a complete (word that rhymes with “ship”, and word that rhymes with “bass”) pile of slop.

Food was horrible,no seafood, prim rib was the worst. Tocco bell next door was better than this place. The cook should call McDonald's and ask for his job back.

The food was well prepared. Temperature was good.Service could be improved. The young lady was trying really hard to do her job right, but clearly they need to train her better.

I wish there were more places like this around town. The staff was sociable and attentive. The bill was fair I would say.

We had a great experience for dinner at the 8th Street Grill located at the Holiday Inn downtown Yakima.

I had the rib eye steak special with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables and complimentary clam chowder. My wife had the salmon. We found the food cooked perfectly and in excellent portions, matching any of the more popular restaurants in the area at 60% of the price. An actual bargain comparatively.

The service was impeccable, caring, and enthusiastic. I actually liked the fact that each booth had its own TV that you could customize to your viewing and volume pleasure. It did not take away from a reasonable business casual ambience.

If I had a critique, it would be that the vinyl upholstery booth was showing wear and cracking. Re-covering it with a restaurant grade fabric would fix that in a jiffy.

This was a pleasant surprise considering the reviews. We took a risk and really enjoyed the fare.
