Just because there are no good or average bakeries enough around the region makes this one look good. The guy brings only limited varieties to the Ellensburg farmers market. Hope there are more kinds. Besides, I was worrying about my cards.
Amazing pastries!! Staff was warm and friendly. Definitely will be coming back soon!

Small hidden gem, great food, had the apple cheesecake and it was divine. Also had the hot chocolate, best I've ever had from anywhere. Highly recommend if your wanting a local bakery for handmade breads and small pastries or desserts

A Hidden Gem in Downtown Yakima
Essencia Bakery is hands-down one of Yakima’s best-kept secrets. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of fresh-baked bread and pastries wraps around you like a warm hug. The space is cozy and inviting, with a charming European café vibe that makes it perfect for a relaxed breakfast or a midday coffee break.
Their croissants are buttery and flaky perfection, and the quiche—especially the spinach and feta—is always spot on. I also love their seasonal specials; the creativity and quality never disappoint. Coffee is strong and smooth.
The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely seem to care about the food and the people they serve. Whether you’re grabbing a quick pastry to go or settling in for a leisurely brunch, Essencia delivers every time.
Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike—this place is a true Yakima treasure.

Fresh baked bread and croissants everyday! Delicious tarts, macaroons, and cakes. The lunch special is a great deal with soup, salad, and a sandwich. Everything made fresh in house!

Best bakery ever!!! The Palouse bread by far is bomb. It’s baked and available on Thursdays and Saturdays. The staff was accommodating my requests to pre slice the brownies and lemon bars. Great service.

This is the best place in town for morning pastries or a nice cup of soup. Great people + a really inviting atmosphere. I've been coming here for 15+ years and it never disappoints!

This is hands down my favorite bakery in Yakima! It has been for years and I have not realized I'd never done a review for it. I'm a fairly accomplished baker myself. And so I can tell you from personal experience and expertise that these guys are exceptional!!! I can make good bread but I buy theirs weekly. My favorite being the Palouse (sp?). Their desserts are to die for and if you happen on a day when they're making their fresh pretzel rolls do yourself a favor and buy a whole bag worth.

We came in for a late lunch and although almost everything was sold out already, because of their fame, we still had a magnificent sandwich, coffee and a cheesecake to die for. Ryan’s place has a very cool artistic vibe.
