absolutely lovely winery… professional staff… and wine that doesn’t taste like cheap fruit wine in the upper midwest…. i’m a gay guy that has been to wineries on 4 different continents… Von Stiehl created something special in Wisconsin. if you’re thinking of going here, do it!

Was a great small little place the gentleman helped us find what wines we would like and offered up suggestions. Good place

Great wines. You should find one that fits your taste, easily.

My friends and I spent the day tasting door county wineries, this was our first stop and by far the best. Great wine, great hospitality and the cider bar was outstanding as well. Really nice location. Out of the seven or so places we went this was my favorite and I will definitely be back.

Went on a tour of the Von Stiehl winery with a group of friends during the “off season”. Was unable to get the full tour due to a private party booking, but it was still a fun time! This history of the building was interesting and the basement barrel room was beautiful (and a little spooky)! Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, but soft spoken and therefore difficult to hear her presentation. We were really looking forward to the wine tasting that followed the tour, but it was rushed. Wish we had the opportunity to enjoy and learn more about the wines before our full bottle purchases, but got the feeling we were just being funneled through.

USE A CORK! What a waste of a bottle of wine! Will not return.

I recently visited Von Stiehl on 8/6/24 and the winery is nice and they have some good wines in the older categories but very disappointed with their tasting policy if you purchase wines. I spend $548 on wine there and they didn't have the courtesy to waive the tasting fee. I have traveled all over the country visiting wineries and have never seen a winery that would not not waive the tasting fee if you purchased a bottle, 3 bottles, or a certain bottle count or dollar amount spent, almost all have guidelines around it. The tasting is meant to draw you in so you can sample wines and like some enough to purchase at their full retail price and give positive word of mouth. I will never go back to Von Stiehl again and should have told the employee to forget the purchase when he did not waive the nominal tasting fee. Other Door County wineries waive their tasting fee with a purchase, I bought at some other wineries as well. Poor business is all I can say.

Surprisingly good across many varieties.

Almost a required stop as you travel the east side of Door county. Staff were very knowledgeable about the nuances of their wines. Now there is the cider bar to also try out. See separate review for that.

Always a delightful experience! The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. So many wines for every palette to choose from. The winery also has a a Cider and distillery 2 doors down that are worth checking out too.
