So kiddo just had a birthday. He's 4. When it was time to order order his cake I let him decide & tell the people what he wanted. He told lady behind counter the at the bakery he wanted a rainbow triceratops. I had no idea what to expect. I'm beyond pleased. Thank you Gunkel's Bakery in antigo. Wish I could attach a picture. They did an excellent job on the decorating, and it tasted wonderful too!

My family has been stopping by Gunkels for last 30 years on our way to our cabin outside of eagle river. As good as there pasteries are: wonderful treats & awesome garlic toast, the staff make all the more worthwhile. They have always gone out of there way to serve you the best. Highly recommend you stop by in the morning! Just great pastries and staff.

The eclair I ordered & the glazed ring donut my mother ordered both tasted amazing. Both pastries were crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. We will be stopping by again.

The cookies were so good! Especially the Carmel Apple cookies! And SO reasonably priced. Will definitely stop again when we go through the area!

I picked up a dozen doughnuts, and one Danish. Sadly they were very hard, kind of tasted like yesterday's doughnuts, and the Danish was burnt on the bottom. This is my first time using this bakery and I don't think I will be using them. The staff were very friendly, and the bakery adorable inside, sadly the product was just lacking.

oh man, where do i even start---my dad was from antigo--graduated from high school in '39--go look him up. still have his yearbook somewhere--and he used to talk about gunkels i dont know how often. its one of the things i remember about him--and i had a trip to wisconsin this week and wanted to get to antigo to see a few things--my grandfather's grave at the antigo cemetery for one, and their house on field street. anyway, i drove into town and had to stop--was actually hoping they sold t-shirts with their name on it--would have bought one (hint for management) but they didnt have any. What they did have was some cranberry bread, so i got a loaf of that along with one other--it was by the front door, and the very nice lady said to take one as i was a new customer--well the place was highly recommended by my dad, and he was right. already had a note from my sister who i gave one of the loaves to--as she put it--"just toasted some with butter. Delicious". cant say enough about the place, nice and clean, the staff was downright friendly (midwest nice--wisconsin nice, actually) and now that i see that they ship to the 48 states i will need to order some things from them and have them sent to me. win win. thanks for warming my heart--both dad and gunkel's
