We've been happy customers for years until this visit. We were out of town for the Winter and came for a birthday celebration with 5 guests. Only one meal was the usual delicious meal we were used to. All of us ordered something different. We left disappointed.
The steak is incredible! It definitely rivals top steakhouses in big cities across the country. The service is wonderful!
I had one of the best steaks I've ever had at any restaurant at this place. The service is amazing. The ambience is so nice. The cream of mushroom soup was outstanding the add-ons that you can add to any steak had such a variety. I highly recommend the works!
The set-up of the buffet is beautiful. The salad and display of fresh fruit was out of this world. The beef tips were tough. The prime rib was very tender. Was unhappy that with the charge of the buffet that there was no desert to speak of at the end that was worth eating.
Another great experience. From the hostesses to our server. Rachael was great. She introduced us to something new to try from the menu. Her recommendation was great.
Awesome all around! Great food, great service! A little loud but that's ok. My wife has a severe nut allergy and they went above and beyond for her!
This is the first time I dined at Merrill's. The food was outstanding and our server Rachael was great and I will ask for her specifically next time. The food came quickly and was prepared well. I was there for my birthday with my wife and the entertainment was good. I will dine again soon. Thank You.
My husband and went for dinner to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary. The staff was very sweet and had a handwritten card for us. Merrill and Houston also provided us with a compilatory glass of champagne to celebrate. After our dessert the manager told us the dessert was also complimentary-what a surprise! Merrill & Houston's went above and beyond. We will go more often and will recommend to others.
This was our first time at Merrill & Houston's, and what a treat it was! The hotel and restaurant share a unique style, seamlessly incorporating ironwork elements into the design in a tasteful way — classic and stylish. We arrived early to enjoy a cocktail at the bar, and it did not disappoint. The basil-lemon martini was one of the best flavor combinations I’ve ever had. The selection of spirits rivals that of any upscale establishment. The service was top-notch. From the charming bartender to our perfect waitress, Rachel, everyone we encountered made us feel valued and well taken care of. Our "Geronimo Moment" appetizer was a delightful surprise — we’ll definitely be back for that Shrimp! As for the main course, if there was any doubt about making this steakhouse one of our regulars, it was quickly erased. The meat was perfectly cooked as ordered, well-seasoned, and the additions were excellent choices that truly enhanced the dish. The salad, soup, potatoes, and dessert were all delicious as well. I wouldn't change a thing about this dining experience. For the quality, options, and overall experience, the price was reasonable for the area. My only regret is not visiting sooner. Merrill & Houston's is a must-try for special occasions, business meetings, family dinners, or even just drinks and appetizers.
We were sat at a large, quiet booth. Food was great.

Food is tremendous but will say the service is even better. Amy was wonderful and just a fun time. She went right along with my sarcasm.

My wife and I went here for Valentine’s dinner. We had a reservation. They weren’t quite ready for us when we arrived so we went to the bar. That was fine. Drinks were fine. When we were seated however, we walked completely through the restaurant to what appeared to be a large room that was ramshackle set up for extra seating for Valentine’s Day. Basically Kind of like something that gets used for wedding receptions and torn down the next day. Our particular seat was at the end of the room, a tiny, two person table that was remarkably wobbly right next to the door to the bathrooms and where the wait stuff kept coming and going. I should’ve known then to just walk out and pay my bar tab. But it was Valentine’s Day. It was very snowy and we had already waited a bit of time and figured every place else was going to be booked anyways. So we figured let’s give it a go we’ve never been here before. That was a terrible decision. The food was mediocre and they actually brought my wife the wrong dish. We didn’t even complain because at this point everything was taking too long and this was such a mediocre to terrible night I didn’t care to have a disagreement with the wait staff. The waitress actually commented on how small and cramped the table was and that it was difficult to fit everything on it. Let’s see if even the waitress comments about the inadequacy of the table how do you think the people feel who are spending $175 for a mediocre meal feel about it??? They were busy so everything was slow. The food was, as I said, quite mediocre. We don’t mind spending a lot of money on a nice meal. We eat at La Toille in Madison regularly, Graze in Madison, and all of the nicer places in Janesville. The same places gets old so we wanted to expand the places we go to and gave this a try. Bad choice. I give it an F.

Good food, although pricey for Beloit, it's on par with this type of restaurant. Great service and very friendly staff. Highly recommend the Iron Works Steak Dinner. Make reservations as soon as you can because you won't get in around dinner time.
