Well kept and comfortable ambiance at this neat little farm to table restaurant. Really enjoyed the arancini balls, baked cod and short rib entrees we had. We will be back soon!

Back visiting MKE area and meet up with some friends for dinner. It was suggested to try Parkside 23 (former Sticks & Stones). I was only at S&S’a a few times along time ago but Parkside 23 did not do much to change the feel as you walked in to the hostess station and restaurant/bar area from what I remember.
We arrived early, had a drink in the bar to catch up with friends and went to our table shortly after. Waitress introduced herself, asked for any drink refills, proceeded to explain the concept and tell us that they were out of numerous menu items - mashed potatoes, lobster bisque, arugula to start with. (Saturday night 7pm reservation you are out of a long list??). More than a 1/2 dozen items have mashed potatoes. I would think the majority of people had reservations in advance which gives one a pretty good estimate of how many people they would be serving. There is also a past history to provide a ballpark of how many people might order an item with mashed potatoes. Poor planning, lack of experience by the team?
The waitress came to take our order and said they were out of few additional items but said she would tell us if we ordered the item with the missing ingredient but would not tell us until then. The joke became, “we better order quickly or more items might be added to the missing list.” I even suggested there was a grocery store just down the street and offered to go buy the missing ingredients for them. Not sure why one of the management team would not have done the same.
I could see a restaurant running out of a nightly special but how does a place run out of a staple side on many menu items by 7pm. Poor planning, miss management??
We enjoyed the company, services was a B+, did not like a party of 6 being stuffed into a booth and the substitute foods that hit our table were fine. Nothing wowing so I give the food a C.
Would I recommend or go back? Probably not as there are plenty of other places to visit.

Chicken pot pie: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Veal meatballs: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ These are some of the best meatballs I've ever had
Shortrib tacos: ⭐⭐ These were fine I guess, but the meat was flavorless and the sauce was light on flavor or heat. The excess of pickled onions couldn't even overcome the lack of flavor. I just mixed the meat in with the meatballs
Love the farm to table concept and that the menu rotates seasonally. Everything we had was delicious, will definitely go back!

Love love love parkside23! We did my brothers engagement party here and anytime I’ve been for a meal it has always been excellent! Lunch or dinner doesn’t matter, they are always busy for a reason, so happy to have a non-chain restaurant close to me!

This place is an absolute gem, especially if you must adhere to a gluten free diet. My wife and I recently celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary here and our experience was perfection from start to finish. The food was prepared with care and presented beautifully. The service was just as great! We aren't local to the area, but if we were, this would be a regular go-to. I just wish we had a place this excellent close to where we live!
