Thanks Bill for the excellent hospitality!
My husband and I LOVE going to the Rookery Pub at the Cable Nature Lodge! We started staying at the Cable Nature Lodge prior to getting married and continue to do so! The Lodge is amazing and we sleep so well. The Rookery Pub has the most delicious food in a romantic setting. You feel as if you are at a fine restaurant in a large city, but you're in the woods! We enjoy it in the fall and the winter. We love the outdoors so there is plenty of places to hike and snowshow. I highly recommend it!!
Good food. Owner really personable
My husband and I ate at The Rookery last night after an afternoon of x-country skiing. We sat at the bar. The food was terrific. The diners at the other end of the bar recommend the Caesar salad. My husband and I split it, and it was really good and definitely enough for the two of us. The bartender recommended the filet mignon. She was spot on! It was delicious. Because of lent, my husband ordered the halibut. I’m not a halibut fan, but it was very good. It came with a pasta side that was also delicious. The service was attentive and helpful. The bartender makes a very good old fashion, and she was spot on with her recommendations for wine with our entrees. She also had some ideas about where we should ski today! She was wonderful! The Rookery is definitely a hidden gem.
It's not easy finding vegetarian entrees or interesting flavor combinations in a north woods supper club, but the Rookery provides. Our favorite dish was the bluegill with soba noodles and wakame - called an appetizer, but would easily work as an entree. The bluegill were delicate and flavorful. We also splurged on lamb chops, which were served medium rare as ordered, and this night came with creamy dauphinoise potatoes and bright green beans. Though the food was excellent, I felt the wine by the glass selection could have been a bit better, as there were no sweet wines or sparkling wines available by the glass. Food was very slow in arriving but it was a busy night. Service was friendly and attentive
Very good food. Great service
This place is a hidden northwoods gem! If you are in the Cable area you simply must give it a try. We've eaten here many times over the years and have never been anything less than thrilled with our meal. Beautiful decor, excellent food, a nice wine list, great service, and the best greeter anywhere (Arwen the Black Lab) all make for a memorable experience!
Good wine and tasty eats!
We had the most wonderful anniversary dinner with friends that we haven't seen for 40 years!
Had the opportunity to stop by for the advertised Happy Hour. It was wonderful! All of the starters are on special not just certain ones... drinks as well! Our bartender Becky was fast and friendly, the drinks were great and the food even better! Looking forward to coming back for dinner!

Excellent place for a fine dining in the woods.
Outstanding food, great service and very friendly staff. Good atmosphere, too.
I came back here for the second time because if their unique fried bluegill and soba noodle appetizer and it did,not disappoint. My main was northern pike piccata also delicious. For dessert the flourless chocolate cake cannot be beat. Heaven on a plate. Service was excellent. Thank you!
Decided to go on Friday night of our trip in the area. We were the only patrons on a Friday night? We left around 6 as after appetizers, I was not impressed with the food do we went elsewhere for dinner. Apps were 2 for 1 and thus reasonably priced. We were charged full price for the drinks and not the 2 for 1. But at that point, we wanted to leave. Blue Gills & Bruschetta were good, Strawberry Soup was okay (I’ve had MUCH better), drinks were weak and obviously bottom shelf ingredients. Won’t bother visiting again. Too expensive for what you get!
Great food service and atmosphere!
