Gone by this place for years. It was finally time to see why it’s been a Conover institution since 1933.
The burger was good, cooked as requested. The Bun was toasted. Bonus points for that. The fries seem like they were a whole potato a short time before they hit the frier. The chicken strips were acceptable. Then……the fish sandwich was legit. One of the good ones.

Called numerous times to order a pizza. No answer. I drove to the restaurant to order it. Restaurant was slow only 4 tables. Stood for almost 5 min with no one acknowledging me. Finally the bartender said what do you want. I ordered my pizza and it was good tasting, but tough crust for thin crust.

Very busy evening for the restaurant but service was quick and friendly. Pizza is always excellent there. I tried the prime rib dinner and it was also excellent but a lot of waste to cut off. We were very happy with our meals overall. Free parking opposite.

This is by far our favorite pizza in the northwoods. They can have crispy, cracker crust all the way to deep dish. It’s all delicious. The cheesy garlic bread is also a favorite. Anna is the best waitress and makes a perfect brandy old fashioned. I recommend making reservations for dinner as it is a busy spot. Everything is homemade and worth the slightly longer wait.
Parking: Free parking across the street for cars, snowmobiles, ATVs/UTVs.
