We have been going to Deforest Restaurant since we moved to Windsor in 2012. There has been a lot of changes to there menu through the years. We went for lunch and was surprised to see such a small menu compared to what they used to have. We were hungry for their country fried steak which was always so good. Definitely glad we saw this restaurant on Google maps when we were trying to find somewhere to eat while passing through the area. Their menu has a little bit of something for everyone. We had 9 people including kids and no one had complaints. Our waitress was leaving just before we were ready to leave. She came to let us know she was leaving but there was no rush. She even brought her mom over to introduce her as our next server. Everyone was so sweet. The food was delicious....
Ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast, had some weird meat chunks in the gravy, couldn't identify what it was and it was chewy and hard to process. Initially thought it was sausage in traditional sausage gravy, but it was not. The chicken fried steak was what seemed to be a pre breaded food service type of steak, not impressed, eggs and hash browns were ok, service was decent but on the slower side. With the options available around Madison I'd probably not opt...
