Oh, wow! This place! With it being UWEC graduation weekend and since we were staying out near the highway instead of at a downtown favorite, we thought we’d look for good food away from downtown too. I’m so glad we did. We walked in without a reservation and we were quickly seated, though they apologized for the practically non-existent wait. The menu is ever changing and there were short lists for small plates, salads and entrees. We ordered the two entrees that were the most interesting to us, a chicken and ramp sausage with fava beans that also involved whipped herb ricotta with sunflower shoots and the pan seared salmon with panisse and spinach salad. The vinaigrette on the salad was exceptional. The texture of the panisse, perfect. We also ordered the pot de crème and the earl grey cake with cream cheese frosting. The pot de crème was served in a little jar with fresh whipped cream. A+ for both the custard and the presentation. The earl grey cake was subtle and delicious and the cream cheese frosting was laced with orange zest which was perfect with the cake. Our server, Jake, was friendly and efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. 10/10 would return in a different season just to see what the chef can dream up.

First you stroll into a simple yet warm and elegant space, where there is lots of smiling. Then your eye catches the cute chalkboard at the far end of the bar announcing today’s drink special is “Cranberry Mimosas” so you’re instantly smiling like everyone else. The menu and food is stunningly good. Obviously the ingredients are top shelf. The bathroom is worth the trip just for the artwork alone. The ladies running The Good Wives Restaurant have something special going here. Yes. Highly recommend.

We visited last night, it was a group get together.. I went into it optimistic and I left very underwhelmed. From the menu that lacked any variety for all guests, We had elderly that needed simplistic and cost friendly, I feel you don’t consider all of that when making your menu. So for dinner, The chicken thigh was so small that it looked like a piece of potato, all of us who had walleye was full of bones, it was disappointing and very bland. So I don’t want to be truly negative, but 6 of the 8 disliked everything. I also have to mention at the end Allie set all of the card holder with our receipts, 6 of them in front of me and said have a good night and left. Very unprofessional and arrogant.I wish that you would consider a little variety for all, Most of our group won’t revisit, but I wanted you to know how we felt.

Kind of weird, made us feel awkward asking if we had reservations even though we didn’t need them. Food took forever and it wasn’t busy. Wad of long hair in the napkin. My ham and Gruyère omelette was undercooked and watery, but the hash browns are so good!!!! Sourdough toast also good.

I think it’s a little overboard to bring every single condiment out in a little vessel of its own but whatever

Extremely slow service with not alot of customers. Food was ok. Lasagna sheets were very thick and tough. Shrimp were very salty. Potatoes that were with steak were dry and flavorless.

The Good Wives exceeded my expectations! Amazing brunch, our table had the grapefruit mimosa, spinach and mushroom omelette, and the fruit waffle. Can’t wait to go back.

Ordered the buttermilk pancakes and one of them was under done so there was a layer of batter. Biscuits and gravy was really good though!

Amazing food cooked thoughtfully. You won't find food in Eau Claire cooked with more intention than the food cooked at Good Wives.

Have been twice, to meet friends for brunch. Food & service excellent both times. Quiet enough to have a nice conversation. Going to be our go-to place from now on.

Went here this morning for brunch as we're on a road trip and saw the excellent reviews so we were super excited to try this place out! This was one of the most disappointing brunch experiences we've had. Firstly, the atomopshere is dark, tacky designs, and not inviting. The servers (and possibly owner?) were talking extremely loudly at the bar the entire time we were there. This is a very small restaurant and there was no consideration on their end to realize that talking about personal conversations such as taking Prozac, isn't appropriate when customers are 10 feet away... Besides all this we at least expected amazing food from the reviews. Food took very long to come out. I got a ham and cheese omelette with hash browns, my boyfriend got the eggs benedict, and we shared the pancakes. The food was cold, bland, and below par. The pancakes were the only decent plate of food we got because they're definitely made from pancake box mix. I would highly recommend going ANYWHERE ELSE as this place was extremely disappointing!!!

My wife and I wanted something unique for our anniversary. The good wives did not disappoint. The petite tender medallions entree was amazing. The first bite I thought I was gonna cry it was so good. The dover sole was also delicious. The drinks are made strong like they should be. The saganaki appetizer was new to us and was very good. Definitely going back. Can't wait to see what's going to be on the menu next time!

This was our second visit to The Good Wives. Our first for Brunch. I can't say enough about the staff and the food! There was a mix up in our reservation and they still were able to work it out for our group of 6 on a super busy Sunday with amazing hospitality. Great staff, great humans, awesome food - and very good drinks! 5 stars!!
