Wonderful spot for a fish boil and better than the more touristy options in the area. This small restaurant serves traditional fish boils and cajun fish boils on alternating days. We arrived without a reservation just after one of their boils, and the owner and hostess were gracious enough to make room for us. We thought we’d be served leftovers, but the owner went outside and freshly boiled an order for us! We missed the official show but instead got to watch from the warm interior. Reservations are expected, don’t assume you’ll get lucky like we did.The restaurant is really cute and clean. There is a lovely view over the harbor and the boiling kettle itself. As far as I’m aware, there is no menu and no options. If you’re there on a traditional or cajun night that is what you’re getting. They did have a nice variety of alcohol. The price was a bit high but fair for the experience and quality. The staff were only okay, but I thought their slight edge was fair given the end of an exhausting tourist season. The owner was very personable and took the time to help many patrons debone their fish. The traditional fish boil is served with the fish itself, potatoes, a sweet onion, corn, coleslaw, and bread. The bread was pretty good. The meal looked simple when served but ended up being delicious. The fish had a good flavor to it and came from nearby waters. The potatoes were livened up by the melted butter. The owner makes his own cajun seasoning and sauce. The liberal application of both made the meal even better. The corn and sweet onion were great. The owner described the onion as taking on a candy-like flavor and he wasn’t wrong. The coleslaw was great (my companion described it as the best she’d ever had). This meal is a lot of work to eat given the inevitable picking of bones. Therefore it’s probably not a great first date spot, but very cute for couples who know one another and can deal with some fish bones. They served cherry pie for dessert, which was the weakest part of the meal. Overall this was a lovely experience.

This guy is an actual genius. Maybe a food scientist. The combination of flavors and the way they compliment the items in the boil. Unreal. Absolutely delicious. And they are super friendly. Added bonus!

My husband and I were in Door County celebrating our Anniversary. A friend recommended a Fish Boil during our stay. I stumbled upon Kettle Black and am so glad I did. We enjoyed the Cajun Shrimp boil with Lobster Tail. Sooo delicious! The smell hung in the restaurant as we anxiously anti our dinner. The atmosphere was very welcoming and cozy. Service was the owners who were very friendly.During our dinner, the owners shared personal stories of how they came into this business. Fish Boils are a tradition in this area, but the Cajun spin is his own personal seasoning and twist - and it did not disappoint!Highly recommend!

We came in the winter when the crowds were lower. It was a very relaxing evening and the food was great (Cajun Shrimp Boil). The owners ran the whole place as well when we were there and were very nice.It definitely goes on the list for a place to go back to.They do have alternatives to fish/seafood but we did not have it.Dietary restrictions: They did have other food options for those with allergies. The table next to us had a shellfish allergy and the were well taken care of.Parking: It's street parking so you might have to walk a little bit but nothing crazy. You will likely be less than a big city block away.We pulled right in across the street when we visited.Kid-friendliness: Kids could likely get by here as there are ribs and chicken for pickier eaters.

Very cool experience in Fish Creek! The food was delicious. We did the Cajun shrimp boil with the cherry pie and it was all very tasty. You can chat with the chef while he's working the boil outside. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the food. We'll definitely be back!

Best tasting fish boil in Door County I have ever had. The special seasoning the owner created is top-notch. The owner gave an excellent history and presentation on Door fish boils. Definitely going back.

Delicious fish boil. Beautiful atmosphere and great owners. You can watch the fish boil in the back while enjoying a glass of wine or beer. Relatively new restaurant has great potential. My only disappointment was the wait time on being served, which seemed to be longer than it should have as there was only one waitress running as fast as she could to serve the upstairs patrons first then the downstairs patrons last. If they had one waitress downstairs and one for upstairs I think that would fix the service issue.

The fish boil was a great experience. The explanation, background was interesting and the seasonings and sides were delicious. Would recommend service to check for or refill drinks when coming in for seating. Overall, would recommend!

One of the best experiences in Door County. We went there for the fish boil. The food was amazing, the atmosphere spectacular, and the icing on the cake was the owners coming over to our table to make sure our experience was satisfactory. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Came here on a Friday night and had an awesome experience. When we first walked in, we were greeted by Marcela. She is one of the nicest people I've encountered working in the service industry. She served us drinks and was incredibly friendly and personable. At one point in the night, two of us went back to order more drinks and we really enjoyed talking with her. It seemed like she wanted us to have a great experience and she gave us the option of sampling a few of the drinks before we ordered another one.The fish boil was very entertaining and done by Paul (the owner). He was very knowledgeable and just a great guy. Kettle Black has been ran by his family for many years so he knows his stuff! After the fish boil outside, we went in and ate in the upper level. The fish was delicious! It was served with red potatoes, corn, and coleslaw. I won't usually rave about coleslaw but theirs was so good. I think they add one of their sauces to it so it's got a lot of flavor. The sauces went well with the fish, especially the spicier one.The service was great. Everything about this place was positive. The ambiance was super cozy and homey. It's location is also perfect- surrounded by cute little shops! You must come here if you want to attend a fish boil while you're in Door County!!!
