Environment was elegant and it was fun having the Easter bunny visit. That said no one waited on us nor did they wait on anyone else. We were left to fend for ourselves. No one even told us that there would be no one waiting on us so we weren't sure and sat at our table quite a while before finally just going up to the café. Grossly overpriced
We went for Easter brunch, which was just shy of $50/person. There were no scrambled eggs, much of the food was cold. This price did not include drinks. The desserts were the smallest things I've seen (smaller than bite-sized). Just not worth what was paid at all unfortunately. We paid ahead of time, so if you paid with a card you needed to add tip right away. The servers really did not do much in terms of earning a tip, so we felt we way over-tipped based on service.
We celebrated our anniversary by having dinner at the Hotel Retlaw in Fond du Lac. The service was excellent and the food was amazing! We highly recommend it.
The walleye still had the skin on and was slimy. When I asked they said if you cut the skin off the fillet would fall apart, which isn’t true. Both my soup and creamed spinach were clearly plated a while before being brought out as they weren’t hot and had that film over the top that cream based products get if they sit out too long. My husbands steak was supposed to be rare but was pretty much medium. Then the apple raspberry pie was terrible. Also dressed up tap water in a nice chilled glass bottle, but was definitely tap water, which was awful. Will not be going back.
4th time eating here, have tried something different each time this time had the steak au poivre cooked medium came out perfect. Guys at the bar were also great after dinner. Great cocktails.

My fiance ordered a steak medium rare and it was almost well done. I got the short rib risotto and it was delicious but was not very visually attractive. The chili carrots tasted like nothing. The espresso martini was very strong and bitter, needed some cream.
A really nice place in the heart of FdL.

It's unfortunate that this beautifully restored historic hotel that houses Table One is located in a blue collar city that has at least 2 of every kind of fast food restaurants & approximately 25 different pizza choices. We heard many good comments about Table One & wanted to try it for NYE. One of the comments came from a friend & former chef & another from the couple we were with as they had enjoyed Table One numerous times previously. We made our choices & ordered, all decided against salad, only one had the cream of potato soup, which he said was “ good”. There was no fresh bread or fresh rolls on the table or offered. I ordered the short ribs over risotto, my husband (a steak guy) ordered the NY strip... rare with garlic mashed potatoes. Our friends both ordered Walleye & another cocktail which took a good 20 minutes to get, even with the bar 15 feet from our table. It took a while for the food to be served which was surprising considering there only only 5 other tables occupied. All of our entrees were hot, however... sadly, my short ribs were just mediocre, I've since thought my expectations were probably too high, as I've had much better( Woodfire Grille, Dubuque, worth the 5 hour drive) my husband's NY strip was , in my opinion a strip steak that had been cut in half lengthwise & in no way rare and again,” ok” which he was very disappointed with. Our friends described their Walleye as good, not delicious, just good. Other than the delicious lemon drop martini I had before dinner, the whole meal was a disappointment. This venue has been renovated numerous times & the most recent one is a beautiful art deco design, unfortunately Fond du Lac is a bedroom community & fast food is king and like every other city big or small anywhere in the United States, it suffers from “lack of help”, which is probably what the problem was on New Years Eve, but that only addresses the service, don't know what happened to the food.
It was very cold in the restaurant. They did have a fireplace, though, which they seated me right next to. Brighton, the bartender, made me a hot toddy, which he calls the "Baby It's Cold Outside". VERY good. He's a terrific bartender, polished and professional. Dovie, the server, was very attentive and really nice. Too bad there was no piano player sitting at the baby grand. Unfortunately the cheese curds were not that great (they did only have one cook though). The salmon and polenta were fabulous.
We enjoyed a delicious cocktail, shared an arancini appetizer and had the walleye. Our dishes arrived at a good pace, were beautifully served and cooked to perfection. The server was knowledgeable, kind and efficient. After dinner we went to the bar for a bespoke peppermint cocktail, prepared for us by the creative bartender. A delightful evening.

I had the potatoe leek soup. It was very overworked, very starchy - like eating paste. The perogies were unlike any I've had veggie but they weren't bad. The panko- crusted walleye was supposed to have garlic, panko, parsley and lemon. It was walleye with garlic and standard bread crumbs. No parsley. No lemon. The garlic mashed potatoes were fine. The bartender was nice. Cocktails were good.
Overall I was very disappointed. Would not recommend.

My husband and I chose Table One to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We looked over the menu in the days leading up to the big date and my husband decided on the pork chop, while I decided on steak. We enjoyed cocktails expertly made for us by Brighton who is an exemplary bartender. Our waitress, Dovie, was friendly and prompt. However, the restaurant was out of pork chops and steaks. Huh? How could they allow this to happen? Arent these two memu items considered staples? Being disappointed like this was a disheartening situation in an otherwise festive evening and perhaps indicative of mis-management.
My favorite place to dine and relax when I'm in town! Love the awesome staff :)

Amelia was great wait staff. The ribeye with blue cheese, broccolini and Brussels sprouts was great.
Bar was a little slow but no complaints as the bartender was giving special attention to his bar guests.

Great atmosphere and food. I've eaten here whenever staying at the hotel. The food is always excellent. The service is OK. It's always seemed like they were understaffed for as busy as it has been. The servers are incredibly busy and try very hard, but meals always take longer than they should. I should add that I typically eat here with a large group, which probzbly doesn't help.
