Food was good. Waitress/bartender was awful! She tisked her tongue and sighed when she knew we were there to eat. She did cook and it was good but completely ignored us after delivering our food. We had to listen to her complain to a couple regulars that all she did that day was cook on and on and on. I had to get uo and get my own tab where she left it sit on the bar. God forbid we interrupt her complaining. Best if luck...they will need it.

The GM does not allow service dogs nor is he accommodating for people with disabilities. The GM does not know the rules and regulations of the ADA. He doesn't know the 2 questions to ask if a service dog is brought in. Also, he doesn't manage. He sits on his phone and ignores everything going on in the bar when he is there. If you need ADA accommodations don't go to Macs.

What a great experience. First time to visit Alabama. Athens was a convenient place to stop on the way to Florida. I looked for a local sports bar to watch Monday Night Football and the Yankees game… in Alabama. We couldn’t have felt more welcomed. The food was great bar food. The locals also love it. Mark the bartender is the most efficient restaurant employee I have ever experienced. Polite, attentive and does the job of 3or 4 employees. I recommend the pork chop sandwich with fried okra. Delicious.

First time here. Christie ( I think was her name) was amazing. She asked my name and said my name several times. Very friendly. Great atmosphere. Food was very good.

Had fun catching Juba on stage. Fudd was decent and there are plenty of big screens to catch a game. Will have to return for a game when the season starts back up.
Mac's Sports Bar is an excellent dive bar with fantastic service!!! Going back to the service, as I said, it's fantastic. The servers were very receptive when our drinks were going low as they were quick to ask and deliver the next round of drinks. Even the bartender came out to drop off our drinks when the waitress was busy attending to others. On the food, I wasn't to go to set my expectations high since it's a dive bar, but I was proven wrong. My wife ordered the chicken tenders, and they were real chicken breasts and of suitable sizes. I ordered the ultimate burger, and it was huge - see pic. The onion rings that came with it were made perfectly. Our friends had Philly Cheesesteak and a Patty Melt; they were both delighted with their meals. Friday, they had a live band playing called Salty AF. Not sure what the AF stood for, but the waitress murmured it meant A$$F..k. They were really good. They laid out some top 40 hits with a reggae flair. A couples night out that turned out to be fun @Macs Sports Bar

A friend at work recommended the burgers as he used to be a bartender there. I'm so glad I heeded his advice. For the price of the burger basket, you just can't go wrong. In fact, you get so much food it's hard to finish it all. However, because it's so good, you'll certainly try.....just let out your belt a notch afterwards. I've already returned since my original visit. You should know, everything was just a perfect as the first trip. I just can't believe I was wasting an extra 5 bucks on a similar meal from the Creekwood Grill, the burger joint right down the street. CREEKWOOD IS FIRED!
