Spouse and I ate here while staying overnight at the Heidel House. View in daylight was lovely over the water but as the sun set, the restaurant remained fully & brightly lit. We would have preferred dimmer lighting. We had filet and walleye with baked and smashed potatoes. The proteins were delicious but potatoes lacking. The baked potato was reheated and tasted old while the smashed version were cold. The seasonal vegetables were sauteed green beans which were fresh but...
Lovely setting. A bit too formal and hotel- like for our comfort. Food was just above average but well presented. Service was great. Table setting was spread out like for a board meeting. Just not the vibe for a warm family gathering.
Pretty great place tbh. It's one of the few places nearby that we can go and get a semi-healthy salad/ veggie heavy sandwich or meal. Everything at nearby pubs are all deep fried and so sweet I can't eat it. But waves had options and I really appreciate that. And you can't beat the view.
The portions were good if not a little small for the price but with the economy now a day, I guess that's the norm. The potato dippers were realllyyyy good!...
