National Bakery & Deli | South – Greendale

I’ve been coming to National bakery for a very long time since you moved into Greendale what has happened to you your bakery taste like it’s day old your chocolate cake is not the same. It’s like it came out of the freezer department at pick ‘n save what happened to the chocolate cake that had just the plain frosting on the outside round no jimmies You’re danish. It’s like it sat out for a day and a half and then you serviced it hard dry nasty. Your cookies are very good. Still I miss your apple slices with the light glazing of topic. Now it’s all saturated with syrup. B white goop takes away from the apple slice itself. Shame on you people for changing things that were so good will not be coming back. It’s just an OK place for the locals to hang out cause there’s not really anything around them in Greendale I hate to say it, but grebes is better than what you serve now. Too bad.

Ordered a 10 inch custom torte cake for my daughters wedding for $53.00 that was to be only gray in color, no floral or writing, just gray frosting. Had color photos attached to my order showing exactly what I wanted. When I picked up the cake it was mostly white with a bit of silver spray on it, NOTHING like I had ordered. I was offered the opportunity to drive from Greendale to the 16th street location where the decorator was for them to try and fix it. When I arrived I explained and showed the pictures I had. Asked if it could be fixed by adding black food coloring to the frosting. The decorator took it in the back to fix it. The frosting was more green in color, nothing like I asked for. I recommend if you want a custom cake of any kind you only order straight from the designer, not at the Greendale location. Thank goodness the venue was a bit dark. I was very disappointed in my experience.

How does this place stay in business?

I ordered a wedding cake! Staff was very friendly and very helpful! The marble cake slice I bought us delicious and I can't wait to see the cake I ordered 😋

I love their garlic toasted bread/chips. I will try to go there and pick them up when I'm on that end of town. I was not real crazy about the struessel raisin bread, kind of dry

Consistently good bakery and deli. Love their molasses cookies and their sugar cookies in particular. Some of the best in town.

Such a great experience with this place! I needed a baby shower cake very last minute and they were able to get it made exactly what I was looking for! Beautiful cake and tasted amazing! It was completely gone but the end of the party
