MJ Stevens has been on my list to visit for many years, but it isn't close to where I live, and whenever I drive past it, I'm not hungry or I drive by too early. Tonight I was driving back home from Appleton and I hadn't eaten dinner yet. I ordered the Prime Rib and Shrimp combo, which included a 12 oz cut of prime rib (I'm guessing it was the 12oz duchess cut based on price point), 4 breaded and fried shrimp, choice of potato (baked potato, waffle fries, crinkle cut fries, or a vegetable), and choice of soup or salad. The prime rib was thick and tender, but not as tender as I've had at most other places. It could be because it was after 8:00, so it sat longer than usual - maybe? I also thought the prime rib was under-seasoned. I dipped each piece I cut into the pool of jus on the plate. The jus was lightly seasoned, but helped provide flavor to the prime rib. The shrimp batter was nicely seasoned but thicker than I prefer, so it was hard to taste the shrimp itself. The crinkle cut fries were crisp and lightly salted. I chose not to order the included soup or salad, since I already had a big meal coming. My service from Angela was excellent, and I thought the price and amount of food provided a great value. A couple of minor adjustments could have helped my dinner live up to the expectations I had, based on the recommendation I received.

Made reservations several weeks ago for the Easter brunch. 11am for 3 people. Arrived on time. The 2 young people at the desk said they didn’t have our name. Kept spelling names obviously not ours. Then one noticed our name in a 10am slot. Accused me of making the reservation at the wrong time. “It must be right - it’s on the sheet”. Asked for a manager. “We can seat you at the bar. You have to eat in 45 minutes.” Nice relaxing family holiday? And, pay the full price we would have been charged for a 75 minute (their allotted time) meal at a table? To say none of the 3 we talked to could handle anything out of the ordinary, or admit a mistake is a shame. We left totally dis-satisfied and insulted. Not the Easter family meal we anticipated. Will never bother with this place again, and guarantee I will tell all we know about the very inferior customer service we received.

Went to MJ Stevens on a Friday evening for a fish Fry with some friends. 2 of us had the fish fry and the other 2 had sandwiches. I had the 4 piece fish fry so I had enough to take home. I was served 4 large pieces of fish. The breading was light, crunchy, and very tasty. I ordered steak fries but next time would get the fries as my friend has those and they were done perfectly. The 2 who ordered sandwiches thoroughly enjoyed their sandwiches. While it was my first time there, I will definitely will be back. Great food, nice portions. Drink prices were very reasonable!

Service was terrible. Atmosphere was loud couldn't hear the people at our own table. Food was ok on the expensive side for what it is. The worst part is with no warning there is an extra charge for using a card vs. Cash. It's one thing to tell customers this before they dine but to find out when the bill arrives is another story.

My husband and I went there for our anniversary dinner. We have also been there several times before. Food has always been ok or good. We never complained until now. We ordered prime rib, medium rare and it came out extremely medium well! It was dry, gray, didn't even taste like prime rib and just disgusting! Again we are not the type of people to complain but felt we needed to after paying $39.95 for each meal. The waitress was nice about it! She did offer us another cut of prime rib or a dessert which be both declined. We didn't want any other food after what we just ate we just wanted to it reflect our bill. The waitress talked with the cook and even brought our plate back to them and they agreed it was over done and the waitress also talked to the manager and then then manager came over and offered us the same thing another cut of prime rib or a dessert which again we declined. Because we declined the other prime rib and dessert they had us pay the whole bill! The manager even said they took prime rib to another table that was over done and they didn't complain.... Well good for them but as a manager you shouldn't even be telling people that. What does that say about you and your restaurant. Whatever happened to customer service! It was nice you offered us other food but really do you think we want to eat that after what we just ate and really how good is prime rib when you take home. I don't understand that if you can offer us another cut of prime rib to take home and or a dessert totaling roughly $100 then why couldn't they have removed at least ONE meal from our bill or gave us our dinner free instead of us paying over $100 for our meal. They would have been out that money anyways had we taken the other prime rib or desserts so why have us pay the whole bill for shitty food! they could have at least compensate for something! We can understand food not always being perfect but just because we do not want what you offered us doesn't mean they shouldn't have compensated for something. It probably doesn't mean much to them but we will never be going back!

Ordered 2 fish fries and a piece of apple pie for my boyfriend and I to go. Upon getting home we realized that we did not receive any tartar sauce, applesauce, or coleslaw with our order. We proceeded to eat our meal regardless, and found about a 2 inch metal shard entangled with the breading of a piece of fish. The owner initially offered us 2 free drinks and when I told him we would like to be reembursed he was hesitant. In the end he reembursed us $20 off a $55 meal. Even though I told him that we didn't eat our fish fries after finding the metal because we didn't feel comfortable. We should have been reembursed our entire meal. I was told the metal shard is from a cleaning tool that the employees sometimes use even though they are not supposed to.

Had me wait over a half hour past my reservation to come tell me that the restaurant was closed and wouldn't be able to seat us at a table. This is not my first bad experience at this restaurant.
