The Upper Block Sports Bar and Grill

Get the fried pickles! Staying in Bessemer MI the last few days and spent today on Lake Gogebic fishing. We needed food and found ourselves at The Upper Block as there are limited options to accommodate the extra holiday traffic efficiently. We were immediately greeted by Trevor, who was the only person working the bar and floor - I counted about 22 people. There is quite a hike between the bar and the kitchen and he never stopped moving. We had cold drinks, good food, and great, friendly service. Thank you Trevor!

We are traveling and stopped in for some food. The food was delicious (Philly cheesesteak)! Our bartender, Brandon, was personable and attentive. They have daily specials and I am bummed we won't be here tomorrow (Gyros 😉). We would definitely comeback.

What a great bar! Food was served fast and fresh! The staff were kind and quick to serve. The bathrooms were very clean! The owner was walking around making sure everything and everyone was well taken care. I would definitely come back here. The specials looks good, too!!

We live in Michigan and decided to stop here on our way to Duluth. We are happy we did! Food was amazing, great serving sizes and friendly staff. Great company and conversation. Whenever we plan our next trip out this way we will be back.

Best Mac and Cheese in the area. Menu is unique and different, specials are to die for.

Prompt service, Ordered philly cheese steaks + beers. Order came out efficiently. Food was fabulous. We've had a fish fry in the past with same result. Definitely a favorite go to place!!

Highly suggest the Ahi Tuna! Best I’ve ever had. Service was wonderful and the light piano music was a nice touch!

Most of the time the food is good except for very greasy fries. But the service is terrible. Once the food arrives the server doesn't come back to verify everything is OK. The help all hang around the bar laughing loudly having a good time which is good for them but not when customers are trying to enjoy dinner.
Most of the time one has to go to the bar to receive the bill to pay.
It wouldn't require much to improve the atmosphere.
