Rock Bottom Express is... well, kinda like the bar in the iconic TV series Cheers. No, the bar decor is not like Cheers. It's the people. The bartenders (usually women, in my experience) are fun, friendly, and engaging. And, yeah, just like Cheers, people drop in and and within minutes they're talking with complete strangers and paying for a round as if they'd known them since high school. And there is a group of Freemasons from Jefferson County Lodge who drop in every couple of weeks around 9 p.m., instantly enlivening the bar.The selection of beers and liquors could be better and the bar could certainly use some food (beer nuts, chips, typical bar food), but, since that's not yet up-to-par, I have not provided a food rating and their overall rating reflects that.

I like this place, but they change the menu and I don't see a lot of good things on it. Sitting back by the river is pretty, but it can get very hot because there are no shade to protect you

We waited more then an hour for food. When food arrived, onion rings were burnt to a crisp. Waitress was pleasant, but totally unaware that the service was horrible. There was another table including a child who was begging for his food. We have no intention of returning.

We stopped after a Christmas shopping excursion after hrs on a Sunday all of the other restaurants in Jefferson said they are open but were closed. We walked in asked if the kitchen was open and yes we were in like flint. They had a few nice selections on tap and had a Breckenridge vanilla porter delicious. Ordered chicken hot w slaw very good., and the better half had a chick n swiss, mushroom. Very pleasantly surprised. Very low key and nice. Hint get the tray to eat off of it hooks on the bar if you don't sit in the table area.

I would give 0 stars if possible. The only plus side was the young man working behind the bar was friendly. We asked the original lady behind the bar what was on the pork nachos. She stated pork, cheese, black bean and corn salsa and chipotle sauce. We asked for the sauce on the side. When they arrived there was no salsa to be found and shredded cheese that was just tossed on top. We asked for them to be sent back to melt the cheese. (The picture below is after they came out a second time) The cook openly talked about us to other customers because we asked why the cheese wasn’t melted on the nachos. She told other patrons “sorry we don’t use cheese sauce, that’s probably what she expected.” We didn’t expect cheese sauce but have never had nachos that didn’t have melted cheese. How do you eat them when the shredded cheese just falls off??? While I appreciate that they were removed from the bill the whole experience was awkward at best. I’m not typically one to leave reviews but there is no excuse for that cooks behavior, she was just plain rude.
