This was honestly one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had at a coffee shop, and it’s incredibly disappointing because I used to come here regularly.
I asked a few basic questions about the menu normal questions that any customer might have and the employee helping me (a blonde woman with curly hair and glasses) immediately responded with a noticeably abrasive and dismissive attitude. It felt like simply asking about the menu was an inconvenience to her. Instead of being helpful or welcoming, she came across as annoyed and rude the entire interaction.
To make matters worse, the menu reflected a closing time of 7pm, not 6pm, yet when this was brought up she responded with even more attitude instead of simply clarifying the situation professionally. If your posted information doesn’t match your actual hours, customers are naturally going to ask about it. Treating people poorly for asking reasonable questions is not acceptable.
Coffee shops survive because of their regular customers and the atmosphere they create. Unfortunately, this experience made it very clear that customer service is not a priority here. No one should feel like they’re being talked down to or brushed off for simply trying to order.
Because of this interaction, you’ve lost a regular customer. There are plenty of other places that know how to treat people respectfully, and I’ll be taking my money to East View from now on.
If this is the way customers are treated for asking simple questions, it’s hard to see how this business expects people to keep coming back.

We walked out and won’t go back.

I moved here in 2022. The Buzz was one of my favorite places to come to. Unfortunately I can no longer support this business, or any of the Grease and Honey restaurants after my boss informed me of the Mercier situation.. reading the Medium article deeply disturbed me. I hope they learned from that, but I cannot in good faith continue giving them money.

I came in this morning (11/30) surprised that the cafe was even open, I would assume the cafe would be closed the morning after we had such horrible weather. The service was great and the coffee tasted good, my only concern is why was there only one worker running the entire cafe? If she wasn't a manager she definitely ran the place like one and most likely deserves more than whatever she is making right now.

Fruit flies were attacking me and my food! They were flying into my eyes and nose, it was really gross, I ordered the roasted beet and apple salad, with smoked salmon on the side. Most of the salad was Brussels sprouts- which were not mentioned in the ingredient list. The beets were cool and rather difficult to chew, so it was a disappointing meal. As soon as I stopped eating, my plate was over run with fruit flies.

We had been looking forward to trying The Buzz for quite some time, and after a full day of great stops in Kenosha, we made this our last destination before heading home. Unfortunately, it ended on a disappointing note.

When we first walked in (Saturday afternoon around 2 PM), I was excited to check it out, I often blog about coffee shops and highlight what makes them unique. I asked the barista where they sourced their beans from, and she responded that they came from Milwaukee and were made special for The Buzz. I thought that was really interesting, but she offered no further detail. If I worked somewhere with beans roasted exclusively for our shop, I’d be eager to share more about them, maybe even encourage customers to visit the roaster.

I then asked her what their most popular drink was, because that’s what I wanted to try. Instead of answering, she simply pointed me to the specials board and their regular menu. While that’s helpful, it didn’t answer my actual question about their best-selling drink, the one customers rave about and keep coming back for.

The biggest disappointment was the service. Rather than welcoming or enthusiastic, the barista came across as dismissive and uninterested. As someone who has worked in coffee before, I know the excitement of telling customers about a café’s signature drinks or unique features. Here, I felt unwelcome and brushed off.

It’s a shame, because the shop itself has potential, but the lack of hospitality really soured the experience. Service and passion are just as important as the coffee, and sadly, The Buzz missed the mark for us.

We waited 50 minutes for our food after ordering, and there was no communication from staff regarding the delay. When I asked about the wait, the response I received was, “Next time you can come find a manager and tell them,” which implied it was my responsibility as the customer to report service issues in real time. This approach felt dismissive and unprofessional.

And the food was mid for the price.
