I may have to re-review when I try other things... so this is basically for the Friday cod 4 piece fish fry. It's decent. I enjoyed the flavor and the quantity of the food for the price is fine. The staff were friendly and the food was served promptly to their quoted time. Before trying this fish fry, there were several recommendations for J.O.'s. The first time I called their "reservations" were filled. So when I called this week I was able to get in. I was under the impression they did a high volume and they had seating. They actually make your order fresh for you but it's mostly "to-go" for dinner time orders. The interior has three tables, but is mostly an open style kitchen. They definitely had quite the stack of ticket orders piled up. I probably won't go out of my way to call early to insure a "reservation" as I probably won't be craving this fish fry. But I wouldn't hate it if I had it again. It smelled delicious the whole ride home. The fish was on the firm side. It may have been on the dry side too. I had to work a little bit with the edge of my fork to cut it. It reminded me of a dry crab meat (like the strings). It was a dry breading like a panko bread crumb. I do prefer more of a light crispy beer batter. I wish I had looked to see if they had lemon slices to take, there were none in the box when we got home. The rye bread was soft (without the marble) the slaw was good (I'm Not a slaw fan). I'd eat it again. I'll try other local joints first. During the daytime I'd like to stop in for their casual cafe/deli time menu. During the warmer days it looks like they have outside covered porch seating.

Fish fries and sandwiches are great. The poorman's lobster is the best! We usually order carry out and live 10 mins away. Our food is still piping hot when I bring it home.

Moved to Kewaskum recently and have been investigating the local cuisine on offer. Will definitely be coming back to J.O.'s to try out more items. A word of warning, which the locals are all quite familiar with: Place your take out order earlier rather than later (and this is predominantly a take out joint. I counted 3 tables to eat at, which I surmised were mostly used by folks stopping in for the odd lunch.) If you walk in and order you may be waiting a long time for your dinner, as this is a well-oiled machine here. When we stopped in to pick up our order on a Friday at about 3:30 PM, the counter was chock full of phoned in orders awaiting processing.
