Great surroundings, great food, wonderful & friendly staff!
Keela and Hailey were great bartenders!! We got pizza and their hand-cut fries and they were soooo good! Best fries and pizza hands down. Definitely recommend visiting this place!
Alpine Inn is an awesome spot right up by Grandad’s Bluff. Their food has no business being so dang good and the hand-cut fries are the BEST fries in the city in my opinion. Seriously those fries are so good. Atmosphere and service are great, oftentimes there’s live music. Also volleyball league in the summer. One of my favorite spots in La Crosse.
Been coming to this bar for years and it’s my favorite!!!! Love the bartenders & food. A must stop if in La Crosse!
We have been coming to The Alpin for years and love everything about it. Except lately, the last 2 times we have been there it has been filthy. Floors, walls, bathrooms and condiment caddies. Please clean everything ASAP and return to its fun atmosphere!!!
Friday night fish fry during the State Track & Field Meet 2025 was a bust. My husband and I ordered the battered cod. The first bite taste was off, the fish itself had an odor and a strange texture. The staff offered to open a new bag of fish. Same thing, odor, bad taste. They kindly refunded our money. We appreciated the effort.
We also didn’t care for the table out on the deck smoking cigars. Nothing against cigar smokers, we just didn’t want to smell that during our dinner…which in the end didn’t last long. Please Alpine Inn, figure out your food situation, replace the rotting out windows, get rid of the birds’ nests in between the siding slats, and pick up the garbage on the deck down the steps to the volleyball pit. You have a gem of a location with Grandad’s Bluff so close. Do better.
Love this bar
Not impressed. The mac & cheese wedges were good. Our fries were cooked in burnt oil and tasted gross. My BBQ pulled pork was charred and dried. It was like charcoal. I asked for a replacement and the replacement was good. They forgot to give me my coleslaw. They also will only take 1 order at a time. We had a group of 5 (3 orders), so we all got our food at different times. We won't be going back.
Went for lunch on a sunday and the food was terrible. soggy fries that were unappealing and not good whatsoever. burger was undercooked and tasteless. service was also slow. would not recommend to anyone.

Love this place. Super cozy little bar in a great location who caters to their patrons. I’ve been here a few times for food and beer and have never been disappointed, but today I stopped in with some friends while having a climbing day on the bluffs. We underestimated the heat and didn’t bring enough water, so we ran down to Alpine Inn to see if they could help us out. Two whole bottles of water filled for no charge, didn’t make us order food or abutting else to get them. Even added ice. Looking for a fun, local spot? Choose Alpine.
Great place to hang out with friends.
