First time in LaCrosse and decided to go explore the area and I found this gem! Had some bier watched some football and chatted with some of the employees. Great time

We just had 2 beers at the bar. It was pretty expensive and the place smelled like weed.

Disappointing in almost every way.
Had very high hopes but quickly fizzled once my food arrived. Buns were rock hard, brats were okay, sauerkraut decent, but potato salad was good. Disappointing they didn't offer a military discount.

The Spaetzle and beer were both good. The schnitzel wasn't really schnitzel unfortunately, it was a big pork chop that was breaded.

No Coors Light beer, but it was charged for until I brought it to yhe waitstaff's attention.Very outdated seltzer served. No apology, but I was asked if wanted another one. Brat served in a white bun. It was very dry and the skin was crunchy. Fries so salty they couldn't be eaten. Red cabbage wasn't pickled like german red cabbage is. It was boiled and served swimming in butter. Spaetzle was like lumpy flour paste. German potato salad was served in error. Food was cold. Waitstaff didn't care. Service was very slow. Not authentic German food here. Never going back!!

We had such a great time here. Friendly greeting at the door, was seated immediately. Great beer menu. Drinks were delivered quickly. The Oktoberfest beer from tap was INCREDIBLE! So good! This was our server's second day at work and she was phenomenol! Attentive, quick and very helpful.
We also ordered the Bacon on a Stick (freaking fabulous) and the pretzel, which is ENORMOUS! And delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed just a great evening here. Hope to make it back soon.

The establishment is both Pfand deficient and afraid of backpacks. Would have spent ≈ $150 in beer, but my group was asked to leave due to a backpack. ??♂️ go to Fathead Steve’s, instead. You’ll be happier.
My response to the owner's response below:
I appreciate you talking about taking security seriously. Perhaps my story can offer you insights into actually doing this.
Your being sure that your door hosts informing me that the backpack was not allowed is incorrect; they informed me that I would have to check it with them; so, I did. they kept it at the front, out of reach of anyone. Later on, the manager informed them that I would have to leave---there was not any discussion of leaving the backpack in a vehicle. Additionally, the manager was cowardly and could not actually say this to me, not so impressive of a manager.
What makes the situation comedic is that nobody cared about the large purse and tote bag my wife carried in; the tote bag even had a sharp implement in it, that could have been used as a weapon. So, again, while I appreciate your talking of security, it seems your procedures fall flat when faced with reality.
Please, also consider the use of a Pfand system, like in Germany, so guests can enjoy proper drinkware at all hours of the day. It is incredibly disappointing to drink what should be a good beer in a plastic cup.

We ordered the chicken schnitzel special expecting it to be a flattened, breaded piece of chicken (like every schnitzel we've ever had), but it was a battered, deep fried piece of chicken. Greasy batter, but the chicken was moist. The red cabbage was bland; it tasted like plain boiled cabbage. It was a good thing this was the special at a great price.

Got kicked out and wasnt even drunk. Some blond bouncer kicked me out cause I refused water, definitely disappointed. There was no need for that level of disrespect.

Worst service in downtown La Crosse. I had an empty glass in front of me, waiting for a refill, for over 10 minutes. The manager working at the register never turned around to recognize me. The bartender help like 4 other patrons around the bar, and was more worried about doing her dishes instead of serving me. I will never go into this poorly run establishment again.

I liked my food (Bierhaus Brat and German Potato Salad) but the beer lines seemed to be incorrect and the waitress didn't seem to care. It was OK but I wouldn't rush back.
