We stopped by 6 breweries in thr LA crosse area over the span of three days and this was in the bottom three. The beers were below average and that is personified by them selling coffee flavor shots for $1 to add to your beer if you want. The bartender wore two airports for the first hour we (and other customers) were there. There is a nice little patio out front to drink beers and see folks moving through downtown.
We stopped in for a beer and a stamp in our Reel Craft Pass on the way to the Irish Festival. Great service and great beer. I recommend the Black Lager. Always worth a stop at Turtle Stack!
Great beer and great service.
Cool, low key brewery that has some delicious beer.
Great tasting brews, and wines. Bartenders are knowledgeable on what you may drink in their brewery. They are also knowledgeable about the local bars and restaurants in downtown La Crosse for food to go and enjoyment of the downtown area. I got to enjoy the taste of the Cherry Stout, roasty and chocolate malt character with just a kiss of dark sweet cherry, ABV 6.9%. On a personal note, it's a stout flavor, with the consistency of a Porter.
Definitely stop for a beer or two! Great seating indoor or outdoor. We had a couple beers and walked the river walk after.
That European Pale Lager is sooo goood!
Thanks
Ian and Caleb at Turtle Stack Brewery are fantastic! Their knowledge, hospitality, and passion for craft beer made my visit unforgettable. Great service, great atmosphere—highly recommend!
Ian was fantastic. Great personality and fun conversation.
Beer was really, get the #8!
We had a nice time enjoying a flight to sample the beers. We even got draft root beer. Yum!

Great name, great beer, and even better service! Stopped right after they opened on a Sunday and there were only a few other patrons in their besides us. Very relaxed vibe though and I love all their branding.
Ordered a flight of beers and 2 of the 4 really stood out to me. While sliding the flight holder across the bar top it got stuck and one of the pours spilled. I told them they didn't have to replace it but they did at no charge which was very sweet of them. After we paid our bill and were finishing up they gave us a free taster of one of their other beers. One of the employees was even watching the football game on their phone and set it up so we could see it as well!
Don't sleep on Turtle Stack, it's worth the visit!
Worst customer experience I can remember a friend and I went specifically to buy a custom Turtle Stack glass to add to a collection of glasses.
The moment we were greeted it was apparent the bartender didn't want anymore customers for the day. They/them greeted us with an aggressive "LAST CALL IN 15 MINUTES".
We didn't even need to drink a beer but since we were there we decided to try one.
Beer was AWESOME, Bartender makes me unable to return.
Bartender was not friendly..... multiple people left because of her attitude... drinks were not good.
Stopped there on a 90° Sunday at 4:39pm
And there were 6 people there....The Woman Barkeep says "WE'RE CLOSING".....The website and Location say 5pm......that 2 beers that I could have drank...... Nope I'll go elsewhere
We found out last week that Turtle Stack is a politically biased establishment as we were turned away because I had a Trump hat on and they basically told us that they were closed even though we got there an hour before their posted time. To the other people who were ignored or treated differently, did you have any Trump gear on? If you did that’s probably why! They were so rude to us! I would never behave that way if someone was wearing Biden or Harris gear! Sad!
