Visiting nearby fishing resort... Wife & I hit Roadhouse 139 for a Fiday Fish Fry! Both of us had the seafood platter (walleye, scallops, shrimp, perch). So, so DELICIOUS... 😋 Had a couple off Leinies beers 🍻 and a perfect meal was complete! 💖😋😊

This place was on our bucket list for a while as some friends told us they had great food. We made sure to go on a Sunday and not at a busy lunch hour, it was about 2pm. When we got there, almost all the tables were full but it was quickly clearing out. We grabbed a table. No one ever came to the table so after about 10 minutes we went to the bar to order drinks and ask if we should order at the bar. A waitress was sent over about 5 minutes later. We placed simple orders, burger and fries, chicken strips and fries. We watched everyone get served before us, I mean every single table was served and all their orders had been placed AFTER us. We watched a couple of guys say they also ordered before all these other people. They said it had been 37 minutes since they placed their orders and they had to leave so they weren't going to pay for their meals. They paid for their drinks and left. My husband decided to go up to the bar and ask what happened to our order. The cashier said she didn't know and had no idea what happened to our waitress. About 10 minutes later she finally yelled over the bar to our table that our food was coming. My husband asked how long because frankly we just wanted to leave we were so angry. She said it was being plated. My guess is they lost or forgot to make our order. The people who arrived after us, who already got their food, were leaving. We waited almost 50 minutes since we placed our order. They had 4 servers and at least 1 cook so I have no idea why no one had anyone come back to our table. When we got the food it was terrible! The fries tasted like they were fried using the oil from a fish fry. The chicken tenders were awful! Hard and tasteless. My husband said the burger was just okay but his fries also tasted like fish. The ketchup sitting at the table had turned, it was gross. We drove almost 2 hours by UTV to go to this restaurant. We feel robbed. Don't reply saying you will talk to your waitstaff to get this fixed. I see other recent posts stating the issues with this place and obviously nothing has changed. Steer clear of this place.

Our friends took us to Roadhouse 139 about 6 weeks ago: that was our first visit there. I had perch for the Friday night fish fry, and my husband had (I think) cod or poor man’s lobster. Both of our meals were delicious, and the service was very good. About 2 weeks later, we took some other friends there on a Sunday afternoon, wanting them to enjoy the wonderful experience we’d had at our first time at this restaurant. That experience was almost as bad as the first experience was good. Although there was a sign stating that they were out of chicken, they ran out of at least two other items while we were ordering but didn’t tell us until halfway through our wait for the food. First it was the soup, and the server didn’t notify us of this outage until she’d been in and out of the kitchen two or three times, picking up food and serving it to at least 2 other groups. The next outage was an entree that one of our friends had ordered, and the server didn’t tell us about that until she (again) had served at least 2 other tables. The chef soon brought out a bowl of the soup that had supposedly run out; the 3 of us who’d ordered it decided to give it to the friend who’d had to reorder his entree - twice - due to arriving outages. One of us received his salad well ahead of the meal, but the server didn’t deliver the other salads until she’d delivered the entrees.
Several things need to be highlighted. During our visit on that Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was no more than about 40% full, and it was early in their business hours. There should have been no outages, therefore, at that time of their day, except for what had been posted. The server should have immediately come to our table when she found out about the outages and should not have served so many other people first. She also should have served all of the salads at the same time. Although none of this was our fault, we were embarrassed at the lack of timely, consistent service and the apparent lack of planning the food supply.
Because of all of the above, I’ve had a very difficult time convincing my husband to even consider returning to Roadhouse 139 - to give the restaurant “one more chance.” I don’t dare ask the couple who went with us if they ever want to go there again.
If anyone at Roadhouse 139 reads this review, I ask you: why should we return to your restaurant? We traveled more than 50 miles to have this bad experience: how will you guarantee that this won’t happen again?
I thought about leaving an overall rating of 2 stars but decided that this restaurant deserves another chance, so - at least temporarily - the 3-star rating stands. I look forward to hearing from Roadhouse 139 management on these problems and to a hopeful next visit to see if things have improved and/or if we need to just stop going to the restaurant.
