Nice place with friendly service and peaceful atmosphere. Soups are comforting and flavorful and the fried dumplings are a nice snack. Banchan were a nice addition. Fast service. Highly recommend.

The food here is always very delicious. We got the steamed kimchi buns, the beef soon dubu jigae, and dolsot bibimbap. Perfect for a frigid Madison winter day. The jigae game with rice on the side. The service is always kind and the food is hot and fresh. Small parking lot makes it a little easier added for those who don’t live downtown. Absolutely recommend giving 5 Star a try!

Great food and incredibly family friendly. We arrived 50 minutes before closing and they were kind and welcoming. The staff had great recommendations and described them to help us make choices. They were happy to bring extra plates so we could eat family style and all the dishes were well-made, presented, and tasty.

We had a great meal here at 5 star Korean BBQ. We ordered chicken bulgogi, chicken teriyaki, dulsot bibimbap, and the spicy garlic fried chicken. The dishes were served with 4 banchans. Everything was delicious, the service was excellent. Our baby loved 2 of the banchans and they brought her extra because she liked them, so we definitely appreciated that.
The fried chicken was sooooo good. Delightfully crispy and spicy sweet garlicky sauce. Nothing beats Korean fried chicken.

5 Star has sadly changed a lot over the years since my original review. Service is always slow, and the quality has fallen somewhat on everything. Its always been pricey but now its not worth the cost. I Loved 5 star but it needs some change.

If you've been to any Korean BBQ spot anywhere else this is not it. Usually a korean bbq spot operates like a buffet and if you're expecting that this will not be it. Firstly the prices are ridiculous for the portions they offer, second the service is just not there. I had to get up multiple times because no one even came to check on anything. One of the things I had to get up and ask for was water, which I wouldn't mind but already having to ask for utensils it wasn't a great start. The food was okay for Madison standards but they offered no sauces for the meat literally the most important part to a Korean BBQ. It was just a poor experience and I will not be back or recommend.

The food here is SO GOOD. Oh my gosh, this was delicious. I will absolutely be back. And this is easy access from downtown! We had the kimchi joun, sweet onion chicken tenders, and green chili tenders (spicy with a flavor that makes it so worth it!!). The service was pretty good, very kind and understandably busy with the handful of tables and just one server. Atmosphere is nothing fancy but feels really authentic and matches the authenticity of the food, which was honestly really fun. My friend and I had a great time eating here! Truly, come for the food and stay for the food. I want to try everything on the menu!!

I went there to eat food at around 730pm. The restaurant said they close at 9pm on the website. But when I reached there they refused me to sit for the food as they were in the rush of closing.
[Update: why didn't the restaurant served non-rice based items which are in their menu and asked us to leave?]
