I want to give a higher rating bc the staff is so nice, but the food quality is so inconsistent. The fish was cooked perfectly, except it did not have a drop of seasoning. I haven't had fish this bland since high school. Thankfully, the waitress brought me a side of seasoning so that I could salvage the meal, however, I was disappointed overall. I'll prob use Alchemy for drinks and dessert only as the bartenders are always friendly and skilled, and I've enjoyed their dessert the one time I've had it

Quality has dropped significantly in the past few months. It used to be worth it. Now it's overpriced.Food quality is now slightly worse than nearby bars.

Great burger, the fries want to be chips and seem to be intentionally overcooked.

Love this spot, great food, great libations! Try to hit it every time I’m in Madison!

Been here a handful of times and never disappointed. Had not had the clam chowder before. Maybe the best I’ve had anywhere in the country with all due respect to all the Baltimore/East coast and west coasters. Obviously always comes down to choice but really nice balance of viscosity and flavor without being so creamy all it becomes is cream soup with potatoes and chunks of clams. I almost cancelled the fish and just got more soup…lake perch was a little undercooked but I knew I should’ve said ‘well done’ cuz they were busy, but didnt. Call that my fault. Fish was solid, clean and flavorful and not greasy or over breaded. Perfect level of batter, they just got antsy.

Food was pretty good. Got the Apple rum burger; wish it had more of the jelly on it since it's the main selling point, but not bad by any stretch. Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Lovely interior, with custom (presumably antique) wood furnishing all around. Drinks have variety, but don't expect to order any sort of obscure and overly fancy cocktails. What they have is good though, and you'd do well to stick with it.

Absolutely outstanding! Their curry and sweet potato fries are remarkably good. We'll keep coming back every chance we get!

Coffee was good and fries tasted good but were clumped together. The water was room temperature with no ice. My burger came without any of the toppings listed in the menu, but our waitresses didn’t come back to check on us for a long time. We were basically done eating at that point. She offered to remake the burger, but we had already waited so long. I asked for the toppings on the side and we asked for the check as well. We were given a complimentary bowl of soup, but I would have preferred a removal of something on our bill, like my beverage. When we paid, the waitress used a mobile card reader and stood there holding it while we picked the tip amount, which was really awkward.Kid-friendliness: No kids menu but they were good about requests to make dishes kid friendly.

I had high hopes for this place, but the food was honestly overpriced and not that good. It tasted and looked like something you could make at home for significantly cheaper. I had the stuffed grilled cheese and it was missing things it was described to have had. The restaurant itself was beautiful, but we waited like an hour for disappointing food.

First thing to order is the wings, an absolute must. The sweet potato fries are very good as well. Great staff and atmosphere, definitely make the trip here!

Takeout can be ordered by phone. Fall 2023 menu is online and seems to be the current menu. Quiet mellow place when I arrived shortly before closing on Tuesday night.Vegetarian options: I had the Hangry Jack and chose the side of Wasabi green beans. Almond chickpea patty mostly the consistency of pate with good flavor if you eat it without the sourdough bread but otherwise the bread masks the flavor of the patty. Miniscule Wasabi flavor masked by a portion of green beans the same size as the sandwich.Parking: Some spots on the other side of Second Street.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs to get in but stairs to bar and to dining areas.
