Although I've only been to this restaurant 3 times, I've greatly enjoyed the food and ambiance of the room. It's like a beautiful greenhouse and I'll be sad to see it go. Since this is their last week, it was a pleasure to dine here one last time. My boyfriend said he'd especially miss their mozzarella balls and cocktails!
So sorry that Amara will close July 27 for good. This place was a gem! If you haven't gone yet TRY to experience it. We will miss it. A truly unique, delicious and beautiful restaurant in a sea of average and repetitive choices.
I'm going to miss this place and some of their amazing dishes -- especially the ricotta gnocchi, crab and avocado bruschetta, and angry shrimp spiedini. Sophia provided exceptional service for our dinner last night.
Very nice server. Very nice ambience -- the windows open to the outside were really nice with all the flowers right outside window. The food was excellent. Served in a timely manner. Didn't feel rushed but didn't have to wait. I hope this place makes it!
In town visiting and came here for a late lunch. Had the soup of the day and the best salad. Both had lots of flavor. They were very good about adjusting for a gluten free preference and vegan preference.

Solid, open, airy atmosphere. Delicious food. Great deal on their date nights! The service was slightly more rushed than I would've preferred. We'll be back for sure!

Amara is our favorite restaurant to dine whenever we're in Madison. The food, drinks and service are excellent. And the ambience makes us want to linger at the table a little longer each time we dine at Amara.
We enjoyed ourselves very much and Diandria was an exceptional server. I apologize if I got the name wrong. Our server was great. I will continue to come to Amara. It is one of my favorites!!!!!
Our first experience at Amara was very good, particularly the service from Denae. She was knowledgeable about the menu. She had good recommendations without being pushy. She was also very helpful in finding an acceptable glass of wine, upon discovering no Chardonnay was available. She was fun to talk to without her being at all intrusive. The food is quite good and a good change of pace. It is, however, not an inexpensive evening, so be prepared.

We had delicious golden beets, and calamari. And then we ordered the seafood pasta special to share, and that is where the disappointment came. We dine out often and I am a home cook. There could not have been more than an ounce of seafood in the entire dish. It was disappointing, although the flavor was good. We did let the server know she did tell the hostess the hostess apologized that we were disappointed bit then said well they do dice the seafood — that is not an explanation for less than an ounce of seafood in an entire pasta dish that is charged accordingly for Dungeness crab, and shrimp. -and I said I recognize that, but there was nothing there hardly at all . She was very sweet and we were offered a free dessert to go home we declined. We were on our way to a concert. And we are not dessert people regardless. I truly would've expected it to be taken off of our bill, but I did not ask I did not ask. I do like Amira. I think they have good cocktails and I have several times dined there for lunch before— this is the first time I am with my husband, and he is not eager to go back- I think it was a miss —but we will come again— because I think it was maybe a miscalculated special. I'm not sure it just was so parse so small in the amount of seafood, but we weren't able to tell anyone because at the end our server did not check on us until we were well into our meal, we had wanted some fresh Parmesan on the meal as well anyway, but she was very sweet. It's just she fell off at the end.
We had a very nice dinner at Amara. The food was very good; very tasty and presented nicely. I have to say, the food at Amara is not subtle, but that is not meant to be a bad thing. It is definitely not your grandma's traditional red sauce Italian. We will go back.
