I have been eating Bagels Forever bagels for over 30 years. Last week I stopped by the store for the first time since the pandemic. The store front has always been a little rough, but this time it was especially dirty - items on the floor, broken signage, general uncleanliness.
The service has also always been a little lacking. I was one of two customers in the store around 4pm on a Thursday. The young lady at the counter was helping the customer while two other staff members were over by the deli talking about their weekend plans. I stood there for over 5 minutes without anyone acknowledging my presence. Once I was greeted and had put in my order, I stood there for another 5 minutes waiting for it to be completed. It was two bagels, sliced and toasted. The young man working behind the deli blandly said my name and didn't even acknowledge me.
The bagels taste better fresh from the store, but after this interaction I think I'll just go to Hy-Vee and purchase them frozen.
