Gary and his team were so awesome to work with and did a great job for our wedding!
Our wedding catering by Gary and Blue Plate was absolutely phenomenal! From the very beginning, they were professional, communicative, and genuinely excited to help us create a delicious and memorable dining experience for our guests. They worked with us to design a menu that felt personal and reflected our tastes, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park.
On the wedding day, everything was flawless. The food was not only beautifully presented, but every single dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. From the appetizers during cocktail hour to the main courses - our guests were raving about the food all night (and still are!). It’s not easy to make wedding food that stands out, but Blue Plate truly did.
What also stood out to us was the quality of service. The staff was kind, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. They handled everything seamlessly and helped keep the flow of the evening smooth and stress-free.
If you’re looking for a caterer who goes above and beyond with both food and service, look no further. Blue Plate exceeded all of our expectations and helped make our wedding day absolutely perfect. We couldn’t be happier and would recommend them a thousand times over!
Blue Plate did a fantastic job for our wedding. David and his staff were very good communicators throughout planning, from our tasting through calling about random ad hoc questions two weeks before the event. On the wedding day, David, Emily, Cecilia, and their whole team were top notch. The hors d'oeuvres were great (especially the Street Corn Tartlettes) and the team made sure two of each were waiting at our table when we sat down so we didn't miss out on them. The main courses were also great--the Braised Short Ribs were a big hit with our guests, and we loved the Tortellini and Chicken with Pesto. Lastly, it was comforting for us to know that Blue Plate was so familiar with our venue (The Tinsmith) and vice versa. Knowing that helped reassure us that everything was going to go smoothly, and it did. Would highly recommend them!
Everything was absolutely overcooked. Pasta was mush, chicken was extremely dry, rolls hard and dry. Nothing was seasoned properly - especially the mashed potatoes. It's hard to believe how much people pay for this subpar food.
We used Blue Plate for our wedding and were over the moon with their professionalism, communicativeness, and the quality of the food! They made the hors d'oeuvres, plated salad, buffet dinner, and cake cutting seamless--Thank you Gary!!!
We had our wedding at the Tinsmith in May and Blue Plate made the whole evening stress free and easy. Gisel made everything go so smoothly. Our guests loved the food, thank you chief Nash.
We used Blue Plate to cater our wedding and it was an amazing experience! The food was exceptional and they set everything up quickly and quietly and we barely even noticed them pack everything up and leave. They even saved some appetizers for the head table for dinner service since the bride and I missed the majority of the cocktail hour due to pictures. Would 100% recommend them for your wedding, we worked with Gary who was super friendly and helpful with answering questions.
Blue Plate Catering catered our wedding reception and did an amazing job. Gary and his team (Amanda, Lukas, and Nash) were wonderful to work with--tasting the food and figuring out the final menu were a breeze, and the actual event couldn't have gone better. We received many compliments on the food from guests and also throughly enjoyed it ourselves. Every food item we had was so tasty (beef tenderloin with chimichurri, salmon with a lemon butter sauce, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies and asparagus spears, and a variety of hors d'œuvres), and they also helped cut and plate our cake free of charge! I would highly recommend their business for your next event :)
Blue Plate did a stellar job catering our wedding reception! Gary and his team were a delight to work with at every stage, from tasting to final payments. Rylan and Nash cooked up excellent meals; we chose a plated dinner with beef tenderloin, miso salmon, and roasted chicken as the entrees. Our guests were all happy with whichever they selected!
Emily and Nicole led efficient, unobtrusive service. The tables were set beautifully, dinner was served quickly, and empty plates cleared expeditiously. They ensured the cake was cut and plated and coffee and fruit made available precisely on schedule. If you're considering caterers for your wedding, know you cannot go wrong with Blue Plate. They are worth every penny!
Blue Plate Catered our wedding on 4/26/25 at the Tinsmith, and we were so happy with every part of the experience. We planned our wedding from out of state, but David and the team were so helpful with coordinating all the logistics over phone calls and email. Their experience in the industry was clear as they answered all of our questions and worked with our coordinator to make the day so easy for us. They were able to drop off our linens at the venue the night before because they were catering another event there, which allowed our vendor team to begin setup first thing in the morning of our wedding day.
We received so many comments from our guests about how good the food was! The braised beef was super tender and flavorful, and I heard from my guests that the miso glazed salmon was delicious as well! Shout out to our event lead, Jon, and chefs Lukas and Alex for putting everything together for us!
Our servers were so kind and helpful, and the dinner service ran so seamlessly. Another very thoughtful touch was how they set aside a selection of the passed appetizers and brought them to us at dinner because we missed most of cocktail hour to take photos. They also boxed up some petit fours from our dessert table for us to take home. They really put so much effort into giving our guests and ourselves the best possible dining experience for our big day!

Just got married last Friday 10/25/2024 and used Blue Plate for our wedding caterer! What an amazing experience it was to work with them! They're accommodating for any dietary restrictions. They can make any meal happen! The meal at our wedding was high in our priority list, and our guest ranted and raved about how it was the best meal they have had at a wedding in years! We had Filet Mignon, miso glazed salmon, vegetarian stuffed peppers, potatoes, wild rice, carrots, green beans buffet style! Also did our desserts with them which was 3 different types of pies and cheesecakes! We wanted our guests to have plenty of options! Everything from the first inquiry, tasting, communication, checking in throughout the months, making accommodations and changes when needed, and making sure we needed anything before heading out, packing up the leftovers was amazing! We will be recommending Blue Plate to anyone in the future! You will not be disappointed!
Blue plate catering was an amazing company to work with for our October wedding in Oconomowoc! We got tons of compliments on the food from all of our guests. I knew it was going to be fantastic from the time my husband and I went there for a tasting. The catering staff (led by Nikki) was super friendly to all the guests and helpful for my guests with dietary restrictions. They saved a bunch of the leftover food for us to take home at the end of the day. Overall, they were an absolute joy to work with! 10/10 would recommend!

On the wedding day, the team arrived on time and had more than enough staff to ensure everything went smoothly. The popcorn and pretzel station for happy hour was a huge hit, and our guests loved the flavors! Dinner was equally delightful, and the team helped cut the Nothing Bundt Cakes for us.

We loved our whole experience with Blue Plate Catering! We met David at an Open House event that our venue was hosting, and from the first bite of food, we knew they were going to be a good fit for us. David’s communication was amazing, and we never had to worry about what next steps were, and he was very transparent about pricing. The tasting they set up for us was lovely, and we got to try so many options before deciding that we wanted to serve. I went in skeptical to trying the chicken, as chicken just never seems to be good at a wedding. After tasting their chicken-I was proved wrong. It was absolutely fantastic and they nailed it on day of as well. Chef Brent took great care in all of the food that he provided for our special day, and Amanda, our event lead, along with her team, just took fantastic care of us all.
The salad was fresh, chicken was tender, pork was flavorful, and our friends with dietary restrictions raved about the stuffed peppers. We had opted to do cookies rather than cake, and Blue Plate made sure we had milk, coffee and tea for our dessert bar as well. They truly seemed to care about our overall day being a success and they played such a big role in our day. We recommend them to anyone!
We loved working with Blue Plate for our wedding. The whole process was extremely low stress and pleasurable. From tasting to making last minute changes to the actual wedding, everything was completely seamless. These guys are absolute pros. We worked with Gary for our menu and tasting and had Nikki as our event lead, both of whom were great! We didn't have to worry about one thing on our special day and we're extremely grateful for that! We would absolutely recommend Blue Plate to anyone looking to cater a large event. The food was top notch and the experience was amazing. Thank you!!
