Bonfyre American Grille

Was seated quickly however waited for over 25 minutes before I met my server.
Service was sub par. Food was under seasoned especially for the price.
Crab cakes were delicious and the hostess offered a warm welcome and nice hospitality.

Nov 2025: Good service, but mixed review on food choices this time. BBQ Baby Back Ribs, the Curry Bowl and the Vegetable Risotto side dish ($6 upcharge) were all excellent and great value choices. On the flipside, the Herb Rotisserie Chicken (Previously a favorite) was so dry we couldn't eat it and fortunately was taken off our bill. Morts Pot Roast was also pretty disappointing - lots of fat and just lacking pot roast flavor. Jambalaya was a good GF, dairy free option!

Jose, our server, described in detail the specials of the day and brought us a great selection of desert cups to choose from for desert. Fast service too!
Our order consisted of Wood-Fyred Mixed Grille, Prime Sirloin Steak with Asparagus, Wagyu Burger and Fried Fish Tacos. Everything was excellent and prepared correctly. My wife and I shared the Wood-Fyred Mixed Grille and they offered to split it into two plates for us. Serving size was still great! The ribs in the mixed grille were tender and had a wonderful BBQ sauce! We had the cheese curds for our appetizer and they were definitely up to Wisconsin standards!

Had dinner with my husband last night and loved it. The food was delicious, and our server Onur made the evening even better—attentive, professional, and genuinely caring. Great atmosphere, great service, great meal. Highly recommend!

Excellent service. Menu has a wide variety appetizers and entrees, from steak to seafood, including wood fired entrees My bbq ribs fell off the bone and were cooked perfectly. Jambalaya was had the right spice with generous sized shrimp and andouille sausage I've been coming to this place for 15 years and never disappointed

Food was outstanding, presentation was perfect and the noise and lighting was great for a sit down meal with family.

We had dinner at Bonfyre the other night. Food was excellent! Our server, Onur, was very informative and attentive to our needs. He had an infectious energy and friendliness that added to our great dining experience. I can truly say we had a “fun” time…who else can say that about their last dining out? Icing on the cake was having a draught Paulaner Salvator (one of my favorites that is rarely on tap) with my meal. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town.

Bonfyre is one of our favorite restaurants in Madison. It consistently meets our expectations. Our server Onur was excellent. Very pleasant, friendly and efficient.

the steak was amazing! all the sides were great, and my boyfriend got the pasta carbonara and it was a great quality pasta. the service was great as well. our server was diego, and he was incredibly helpful and kind. i would recommend this place to anyone looking for great food at a reasonable price!

Atmosphere was nice, service very good. Food could taste a little better. Calamari too salty, steak a bit chewy and halibut was to complicated, a simpler dish would've been better.

It was our first time at Bonfyre and we really enjoyed it. Definitely added to our list of potential restaurants to celebrate our daughter's upcoming graduation from UW Madison in May.

Food was phenomenal Ribs were so good they fell off the bone when the bones lifted up Steak with chimichurri was outstanding Truffle fries top notch Diego was a terrific server and did a great job 10/10 recommend

Absolutely delicious meal and waitstaff was extremely accommodating with our special requests.

We had a delicious meal - three of the four of us had the halibut and it was outstanding! The fourth in our party had a steak and it was also delicious. Service was excellent. Will definitely be back!
