Kind of ridiculously expensive for a sandwich and some chips ngl. Or a salad.Parking: It's in the campus area so parking is almost impossible

One of the best food options in the union but the hours are always really weird

Good sized sandwiches, at a decent price. Carte is not the most upscale place, but it's not that bad either. The chips weren't great, but the service was fast. Why would you order a salad here? That's just stupid! I would recommend getting a sandwich at a sandwich place.

Wow - what a pleasant dining option at the Memorial Union! It offers both made to order sandwiches and salads as well as grab and go items. I was totally impressed with the quinoa black salad I ordered for lunch - excellent mix of textures and the flavors of the components complimented each other. There are no tables at Carte to dine-in, but its not difficult to find a table elsewhere in the Union (Strada, the Rathskeller, the Terrace).

Big sandwiches that are decent quality with friendly service at the right price. I hadn't yet explored any of the Union's new dining options so I decided to pop into Carte for a lunch meeting. Carte is designed for takeaway with a case of ready-made grab & go items on the right and then a counter area where you can build a salad or have a panini pressed to order. My meeting buddy and I both went for the Monterey Turkey - smoked deli turkey, Babcock marbled Monterey cheese, avocado, and their house zesty sauce. The sandwiches are all attractively displayed in the case and they are heated when you order. I liked that everything got all warm and melty without being over-toasted or completely smushed like many panini. My colleague had an allergy question that occurred to her after we ordered and the two women working behind the counter were super friendly about it and one went in back to track down all the ingredients. They ensured she'd be okay before serving our sandwiches and I got the impression if she hadn't been able to eat her sandwich they would've quickly offered to get her something she could eat. The cashier was also friendly and due to the intimate nature of the store had us rung up as we approached the register. We took our sandwiches to the Rath to eat and I was pleased with my purchase. The bread had just the right balance of crunch and chew. The avocado was super creamy and didn't suffer from being heated. The cheese had melted into the meat and was gooey without being messy. For $5.75 I felt satisfied. Carte's chicken bacon ranch sandwich is probably the best value - it has a whole chicken breast as opposed to deli meat + bacon. My only notes for improvement come with Carte's storefront itself: it's somehow dim and bright at the same time, there's no water fountain or beverage dispenser (I think there may have been some bottles in the grab & go but I didn't look closely), and I didn't see any napkins or utensils (I probably just missed it, but when I had my hands full walking out a quick glance didn't register). None of these are deal breakers - it is a grab & go place after all, and there are plenty of spots in the Union to grab what you need. I would visit again if I needed a quick & affordable sandwich!

My salad tasted like chemicals. The leaves were the most potent in the chemical flavor, the avocado was not ripe, the tomatoes were overripe, the salad dressing tasted like laundry detergent, the only good parts of my salad were the bacon bits and croutons. Huge waste of money. Probably will never come back here.

The sandwiches are pretty good but they aren't very fast and their hours are kind of weird. They take Wiscard too!
