The best Chinese food in Madison for years

Emily Solinski

I moved to Madison in 2020 and haven’t found good general tso. I’ve tried so many different places and each time it’s over breaded chicken in some sauce that doesn’t taste right. I thought I was stuck with Hyvee Chinese until I’d go back home to my mom & pop shop. Holy moly! This is the spot. Hands down the best general tso ive had in Madison yet! 10/10. Crispy, delicious and fresh!

We tried 2 chicken dishes and both were raw. Crab Rangoon were delicious though.

I’ve been getting the same beef dish here for years since moving to Madison from Sun Prairie. Always been good but the beef this time was just off…fatty, stretchy, just not good. Even cutting with a knife didn’t work well, it just kinda pulled apart. Anyway, my wife liked her Tao’s and I took mine back and they really cared that I didn’t like mine and remade it but it’s still the same, chewing the beef is like chewing gum. So one star on their current cut of beef and five on everything else. Probably my last order though.

One of the best take out chinese food places around. Yes it's better than other chaing jangs. I don't know why. The products are better and they are cooked better.Only complaint is I get over cooked lo mien if I don't specify it to be al dente. We always go to this one when we are hungering for some comfort food.

Not good, happy wok is great. Go eat there, just moved to fitchburg tried my local chineese place and it was a total mistake. The yellow rice is flavorless (suppose to be beef fried rice). The beef taste like it was boiled and coated with a flavorless sauce (seems straight out of the freezer). The spring rolls are 100% freezer pre made. The lo mein is ok but probably best to get it without anything in it. Beef and broccoli is the same beef as the beef fried rice and beef lo mein. Skip it and spend your money else where

Recommended dishes: Fried Rice

ate: hunan chicken w pork fried rice and roast pork egg rolls.Flavorful roast pork fried rice, they're generous with the roast pork morsels. Hunan chicken sauce has a nice mild heat under it, and the dish was filled with huge, fresh-tasting mushrooms and broccoli. the pork rolls tasted similarly fresh, despite being deliciously fried. Generous portions overall, this will be dinner tomorrow for sure.
