Good place to watch sports on a big screen. The Rathskeller sauce is good on so many things!

Love the Union, used to be a big fan of Union food as well.Service is excruciatingly slow - 10-minute wait for a burger on a dead Sat afternoon with 4 employees visibly standing around just chatting while I’m clearly waiting for food.Try to be very clear when ordering food. I asked what comes on the burger and the employee said just cheese. I asked if I could get pickles and was charged an extra 50 cents. When I finally got my food, there were no pickles on the burger. I returned and asked if I could get some , at which point the employees convened and collectively realized they don’t even carry pickles to put on burgers.Sans pickles, burger was good except the bun - dry, stale, possibly worst I’ve had.General seating area not clean and disheveled - probably something one of the socializing employees could work on.

Overpriced and mediocre

It looked good, but the western burger was awful. The bun was dense and rubbery, the meat tasted like bad frozen meatballs, the bacon was hard and chewy. I took one bite and trashed it, and I normally finish food that is at least edible. The fries were the best part and even they were just ok.

Who doesn't like the Rathskeller and the Terrace? On the other hand, $8.25 for a beer is just taking advantage of people. If there's one place that should charge as little as they can, it should be a public university. Food prices are similarly high.

A cozy eatery/brew pub deep in the bowels of the University of Wisconsin Madison Student Union on the shores of Lake Mendota.

Always love the ambiance of this place. Little dimly lit, almost always busy, and just a warm nostalgia for all former badgers. We started outside because of how busy it was on homecoming but found a seat inside eventually to help us warm up. Love the smell of popcorn wafting through the air. The prices are always a bit more here but not bad if you opt for a pitcher with friends. Otherwise, maybe $7-9/ beer. Remember that if you're not a member, you have to pay $1 for a daily membership.

Decent food, good service and great location. Loved the tater tots, thought they were better than the fries. The cheese curds were ok, a bit heavy on the breading, light on the cheese. The kids gobbled up the chicken tenders. My wife had a wrap which was good, I had a burger which was also good, nothing spectacular, but nothing wrong with it either. A good spot if looking to grab a bite and hit the terrace.

It took 30 mins to get my order, and I got a cold stacked burger and tater tots. It was terrible—very inefficient service. Never coming back.

Came with a big party of 25 and ordered the cheese curds and a brat. It was conveniently located in the union right on the terrace overlooking the lakeAmbiance 4/5 loved the German vibeService: 3.5/5 Service was ok. It was slightly slow and their condiments, especially the special sauces were out because it hadn't been refilled.Food: 3.5/5 Nothing spectacular but it was solid. My favorite were the cheese curds.Price: 5/5 This is a great, very affordable spot to eat by the terrace. I preferred this spot over State Brats on state street.
