Hands down my fave cheese curds I've found on my ventures thus far. They go amazingly with their in house(?) Chipotle ranch. As if great cheese isn't enough reason to stop by all the servers are beyond wonderful. Friendly service with a smile :)

Stopped for lunch today and sat at the bar. Buffalo chicken wrap was one of the best I’ve ever had and the green chile soup was also fantastic. Jordan was incredibly welcoming and very quick. Dexter’s is great!

I wanted to like Dexter's, but the cod was rubbery, the breading was greasy, the cole slaw tasted of onion, and the beer pricing is bizarre. From what I could tell, their full-sized draft is 13 ounces. We won't be back.

Gluten free? Get the pesto grilled cheese. Phenomenal. Would’ve taken a pic of the sandwich but it was too good.

dexters has been a favorite spot of mine the entire time i’ve lived in madison. it’s exactly the type of thing you’d hope to have in your neighborhood and i’m so sad to be moving away. the space and the menu are familiar, comfortable, and unpretentious but the food is just really good. you can taste that everything is made fresh!! it’s just a good wisconsin bar doing things the right way.
the fish fry is one of the best i’ve ever had. the burgers, sandwiches (the “rachel” reuben!!), and even the caesar salad are all excellent. the fries are so hot and crispy and well seasoned. and the cole slaw is actually perfect. they do offer an impossible burger and other vegetarian options as well.
there are lots of strings of lights, lots of tvs, and it’s a noisy but convivial space. servers are all friendly. it’s the perfect wisconsin place and i love it.

Two of from out of dropped by for a late lunch with a friend from the neighborhood. As a lover of bison, I was delighted to see this month’s special burger was bison! Best burger EVER! I passed on all the extras other than the American cheese and also opted for a side of their ho-made slaw to round out my meal. A must-have for bison lovers…plus they toasted the bun on the grill to perfection. Other friend had a Reuben with Brussels sprouts and enjoyed it fully, as did our third diner, who got the beef pot pie with waffle fries. We’ll be back!
Insane beer list; amazing staff; slightly more bar than restaurant, but killer soups and “pub food” that’s always above par!
Parking: 2 lots and lots of streets; always something in 2 blocks, often in their lots.
